Your Best Beauty Product- The Gym

Nagging helped. Hubby finally wrote a post. πŸ˜› – Rati

hot body While working behind the scenes on my lovely wife’s blog, I get to read everyone’s comments over here. I like to see the number of friends Rati has made over here and how all you great girls love to explore makeup and cosmetics. She had often asked me in the past to write over here but unfortunately I could never find the time or the topic to write about. Also, being read and judged by a female crowd is sure to give a gent the heebies jeebies. πŸ™‚ Anyhow, I have been wondering lately why she never writes about a topic that is so essential to beauty- physical attractiveness- that I decided to finally pick up my keyboard and set the record straight. We are both gym lovers. Until the past 3 months, we have been going to the gym regularly. Then suddenly, Rati sprained her foot and had to put a brake on her gymming. And now when she got cured and we were discussing about renewing our gym membership, I had a fall on Holi and sprained my foot. As it looks, all our troubles are coming from below the waist. πŸ™‚

I teach Math to college students. And to me explaining with Math becomes much simpler. If I was concentrating on beauty, I would not play against percentage. For example, the surface area of a human head in adults is roughly about 9% of the whole body so if I am spending time in beautifying the head only (face, hair, eyes, etc..) I am playing against percentage. If my aim is to truly look beautiful, I would rather play with the percentage and take care of the other 90% of the body first. By which I mean that I would take time out to stay fit before I start with the makeup. Case in point is the picture above- which guy would see which lipstick or nail paint has this lass applied?

bondNow now ladies, are you reading my post or are youΒ checking out Mr. Bond? πŸ˜› Not that I have to drive my point home but to majority of boys, a pimpled girl with a great body would be more attractive than a smooth-skinned girl with a sloppy one. So take care of your tummy, hips and thighs. Does that mean a walk in the park every morning? Actually no; I have never seen any of the aunties getting slimmer by walking in the park in my school days. What you have to do is simple- hit the gym. Start working out. Probably going to gym is so painstaking, and because exercising takes a lot of effort, this is the reason that many women don’t include that in their beauty list.

But it does not take so much effort as we imagine to go to the gym regularly. Start small; spend 10 minutes on the treadmill initially, do some abs exercises, do some twisting with less reps, etc. Slowly, if you are serious that is, your minutes and reps would increase. The weights would start getting heavier and the treadmill would start getting faster. And you start burning more and more fat in the gym by default. And along with it would come a sense of joy as you start feeling your tummy, all tight and tucked in, while walking, your breasts hanging in shape, and your thighs not jutting out improperly.

That’s the best thing about physical fitness – it lasts the whole day unlike your lipstick, and it works with every person no matter what his/her skin colour is. The best part is that it gives you REAL self confidence unlike the beauty products. The confidence will show in your walk, in your work, and in your relationships.

So what are you waiting for, visit your nearest gym and check out their charges. Do ask if they have a trainer because a trainer is a must. A trainer not only achieves results faster for you but also keeps you motivated. So do ask about the trainer.

So do yourself this favour now. Start hitting the gym, start working out, and become REAL beautiful now. πŸ™‚

    1. he he it was a surprize post for me. He didn’t let me read it until he completed writing the full post. I am impressed myself. πŸ˜€

  1. Oh my gosh Rati that is so amazing you got your hubby to write a post ^_^
Very good post. When I am finished my Masters & have a professional job I will definitely be getting a personal trainer. For now I exercise at home for half an hour each day.
I believe that my food intake also affects my body. At the moment I am experiencing a lack of energy which affects my exercising but also I am eating bad things =S . When I exercise properly and eat well that is when my body looks best. So this post is going to motivate me to get back into shape so thank you =]

    1. Yes, I nagged enough for this post. lol!!

Getting a personal trainer is one of the best things you could do. Self motivation is a good thng but a personal trainer pushes you to your limits and makes you work harder. There are a little things that you would never know if you keep excersing yourself.

SO there you go babes, do get a personal trainer asap. πŸ™‚

  2. Hey,

first of all, compliments to Mr. Rati – you write very very well πŸ™‚

Secondly I totally agree – I even have a treadmill at home. I love the rosy glow a good jog puts in yr skin. No blush can beat that πŸ™‚

    1. “Mr Rati “lol!! He is a great writer. Infact,he was the one who pushed me to write years back.

Totally agree, skin becomes so better and glwy when you excercise.

      Thank you. πŸ™‚

  5. aw that is so sweet!
i personally don’t like hitting the gym. i’ve done it once and did not like the whole feel of the place. i find aerobics and dance to be much more interesting. that’s how i learnt a bit of salsa!
at the moment i am not into any kind of physical activity. i am quite a lazy bum, to tell you the truth!

    1. I learnt jazz some years back and enjoyed it thoroughhly . But for me gym became the addiction. Actually gym is boring for a lot of people, can’t blame you.

      Wow! you know salsa? I am J J. πŸ˜›

    1. Was adding body parts in the tags and thought breasts should be one of the tags. LOL!! I think I put way too much brains into it today. πŸ˜€

  6. Hey Rati! I could finally open this site!!

    1. I can be a proud wife if you find my hubby’s writing skills better than mine. πŸ™‚

Aww!!! get well soon babes. And may be you could control you diet if nothing else. HAve sprous for break fast, eggs whites instead of full eggs, brown bread insted of white, without ghee chapati, control of sugars etc.

  9. Hi Rati,

I check out your blog daily. Actually, tanveer’s blog led me to yours and your blog led me to Cynthia’s, but I was too lazy to comment. I have lapped up all your tippies including the vitamin C-glycerin-rosewater combo skin serum which both my mom and are trying. I would really want to thank you people for taking the time and effort to enlighten makeup-illiterates like me. Actually, your husband’s write-up has kind of come as an eye opener in the sense that I have been carrying around my post-pregnancy pounds and tummy without any remorse. Your husband’s write-up has surely made an impact and guess what, I have ordered an ayurvedic slimming oil……..about working out to lose those jingling pieces of bulk…..I woould say…………..dilli abhi bi bahut door hai. Thanks again!!!!!!

    1. Aww!! thank you so much for such a sweet comment. means a lot to me. πŸ™‚ Being fit is important and especially in times like todays when we barely do any laborious work. I was reading an article on post pregnancy today only and I don’t think you would be able to loose weight wthout exercising.

Do let me know about your wight loss progress and I would keep motivating you, just in case you need it anytime. πŸ™‚

  10. Yeah, all of you put in great effort, I know how difficult it is to squeeze in time to do such wonderful work, anyways, I eagerly check out your blog daily and pass the links on to my sister and friends. Yeah, I know……..work out is essential, but my baby is taking most of my time right now….I am interested in yoga and I have heard yoga having helped Gisele Bundchen to get back into shape, do you know of any specific postures???????????

    1. Hi James, I have done yoga for years but for that I suggest that you take a proper training. Aasaans could be tricky sometimes and if your postures are not right, you might not benefit from them completely. What I may suggest is that you get a stepper at home, it costs around 5000 and helps a lot on reducing weight from stomach and thighs. Also since you would be loosing post pregnancy fat, I suggest that you also consult you doctor. Especially your diet needs to be regulated and you must also be feeding your baby so a dector’s recommendation is a must.

For now my small tips would be the following

      1. Don’t take carbs after 7.30
      2. Reduce the intake of sweetners and especiialy in your tea and coffee.
      3. Reduce the intake of salt and rice.
      4. Switch to brown breads.
      5. Eat sprouts fruits mixed in it.
      6. Green leafy vegetables would help you a lot.
      7. If you take buiscuits with tea, switch to digestive buiscuits.

      Hope that helps. πŸ™‚

  11. Great post !! I love how yer hubby explained it .. Impressed πŸ™‚
ask him to write often .. we will love some insight from 0the other side of the fence too πŸ˜›
even I need to lose some extra flab which I Have accumulated due to exams +I am a lazy bum = This had to happen πŸ˜›
But like Rima .. I find gym booring + my mum somehw disapprove Gyms (she believes You gain weight much faster once yew discontinue it )

Achieving your dream figure is difficult but to maintain it , is a different game altogether .
I should start runnin now :p

    1. He he I will nag more and I think it should work. πŸ˜€ I was also so refershed to see his post. I also need to loose some flab and would be hitting a gym soon. My foot sprain has really taken toll of my health. Join may be a salsa or a jazz class. i think Shiamak has an insti in your area. Is it? All all due respect to your mom, it’s a myth. You do gain weight if you stop exercising but that is tru for everything. If you have a regular dance routine of say 2 hours and then you stop doing it completely, you would gain weight there as well. πŸ™‚

“We” should start running now. πŸ˜€

  12. 100% agree with your hubby.
i was in need of such an eye opener. was lazy for the last two weeks and didnt even dust the treadmill..hehe..
    thanks a lot

  13. Ugh I hate the gym 😎 I’m so lazy I’m not working out at all.. I know I should.
I have good running shoes they were expensive so I should use it, it has
this sensor in it maybe you know it, it’s called Nike + Ipod, the sensor
connects to your Ipod so you can keep track of the calories you’re burning
and stuff pretty funny and motivating, haha, I’ll start with it again soon….!

OPI and essie are available here, will look for it!

I love the guerlain lipstick, the color is like bloody red
and I love that this one has a mirror, check it out:
    http://www.marieclaire.com/cm/marieclaire/images/mcl-rouge-g-de-guerlain-lipstick-2009-de-72802905.jpg cool huh?

    1. Oh yes I know about these shoes. You have those and you don’t use them?? Don’t you get tempted to wear them and start running? lol!!

The Guerlain lippy looks gorgeously gorgeous. And that mirror is pure love. πŸ™‚ Would want to see you wearing it one of these days. πŸ™‚

  15. Excellent article.
Recently after reading all new articles, I have started reading from Archives.. Such a relation I have with IMBB now..
Well when you go to gym regularly, sweating opens and cleans pores so your face/skin glows and pimples are reduced. My personal experience, working out has made my body wonderful and my skin superior. My bf says, I have best figure and best skin.. :haanji:

  16. Hi ,

I dont have weight problems but I have fat arms , I call them ‘Hulk ke Haath’… can swimming or gym help me out in toning the arms .. I have heard that you cannot lose weight from a target area , you can just lose weight throughout the body
