YSL Creme de Blush – #2 Powdery Rose

YSL Creme de Blush – #2 Powdery Rose

After sharing the fabulous blush Chamade from Chanel with you earlier, I now bring to you another cream blush – this time from the ever-popular brand YSL. YSL cream blushes launched before Chanel and created quite a buzz in the blogosphere. I checked these out on a friend’s recommendation. However, by the time I was ready to pick one up, most colours got sold out. But lucky for me, they still had a piece of the colour that I wanted – #2 Powdery Rose.

The Product Details (from the website):

Unique cream to powder blush offers a luminous, radiant and healthy look. The remarkably soft formulation feels like silk upon application, ensuring a seamless result. And because the non-waxy texture will not break through makeup, it is an excellent touch-up tool for use throughout the day. Suggested application: Using fingertips, gently apply to the apples of the cheeks, blending up and outward toward the hairline. Gently tap into the skin for flawless blending.

Packaging:

The YSL cream blush comes in a square glass transparent tub with a golden screw-on lid. There is no applicator or mirror. But then, cream blushes generally don’t need an applicator because your fingers can easily do the trick. The glass tub has a small plastic pot in which the product is housed. The plastic pot is of the same colour as the product. Inverted, it is easy to make out the colour without opening the tub. The whole thing comes packed in a golden box – as is usual for all YSL products.

My experience with YSL Creme de Blush – #2 Powdery Rose:

Color: The colour described on the website as “warm neutral pink.” It is a dusty rose pink. Looks pretty blah in the pan but goes on to give a most delicate natural pinched look. It is a perfect colour for a natural looking blush. Its equivalent in powder blushes (though a tad darker and less pinker) would be MAC Blushbaby. This is HG colour girls for days when you are confused what shade of blush to use – this is soooo natural.

There is no shimmer or glitter in the product but the colour has a kind of luminosity to it once applied to the cheeks. Even though it sets to a powder finish, the luminosity remains. The colour would suit all skin tones and would show up very easily. However, I would advise females over NC45 to try before they buy this. For others, you can blindly pick this colour!!!! Its that amazing!

Texture: It’s a soft creamy texture – Its softer and creamier than the Chenl blushes. It takes a tad bit longer than the Chanel blush to set to a powder finish. It does not apply patchy. Instead, it blends like a dream. Absolutely fantastic!

Pigmentation:The colour never looks over the top or clown-like – just very very natural. And when I say “natural,” I do not mean its sheer or low on pigmentation. On the contrary. The colour is nicely pigmented, however looks very natural.

Lasting power:The product lasted a tad bit lesser than the Chanel blush – I got about 6.5hours on my oily skin – whichis still amazing for a product which is actually cream based.Sometimes, to increase longevity of the colour, I layer this with MAC Blushbaby!

CONS of YSL Creme de Blush – #2 Powdery Rose:

1. Absolutely nothing except availability of brand across India.
2. Availability of shades – YSL has been sold out on shades since forever!!

IMBB Rating:

Yes, a 6/5 product.

I had bought this before Chanel Chamade and was my go to blush for the longest time. It is so effortless a shade that this one’s a definite keeper. For all the girls who have never tried blushes coz they are afraid of looking like a clown or the shade suiting them, I would suggest them to pick this one up BLINDLY!!! Not only is the shade super gorgeously natural looking, it being a cream blush can be applied with fingertips – so you don’t have to invest in an additional blush.

This is one cream blush I may hit pan on and will definitely re-purchase. And I want to try more shades – as soon as their stocks come in!

    1. You must definitely try this. Both YSL and Chanel have some great colours to offer. But this one in particular is so natural looking and fool proof – its amazing!

  1. look absolutely gorgeous on you K. I havent checked YSL in delhi in a while now. I totally must. Btw that’s a LOT of product in a pot. I was wondering if my chanel blushes only would get over. This would toh never get over, lolll!!!

    1. *thankyou* Rati! I doubt if we will finish these anytime soon. Specially Chamade – i have to barely touch the brush to the pan and the colour erupts on the cheeks – how will that ever finish in 24 months!! You must definitely check these out!

  2. Loved the color in the pot and on u very much…u really tempting me to try blushes and bronzers with your amazing reviews kk. *jai ho* *clap*

  3. wow.. totally loved dis blush on u kk.. *whistle* *whistle* n loved ur lippy as well.. *woot* which one it is gal.. *preen*

    1. *thankyou* Neetu! These are all different lip pies Neetu – there is Givenchy Fuchsia, Guerlain Girly, YSL Rose Caress there.

  4. It looks beautiful! 🙂 Goes well with your lippie also. I try not to buy cream/gel cheek stuff ’cause they go bad much faster than powders…but did you see ysl’s kiss and blush? They’re soooo cute…

    1. *thankyou* Ida! I know, cream products have a much shorter shelf life and there is no way this will be over by that time. I have seen the YSL Kiss and blush online reviews – the Fuchsia one is on my wish list. God knows when it will reach India!! Have you seen it in stores at your place?

      1. We actually don’t have ysl here…isn’t that sad? *headbang* Good for my wallet though! We have to order it online if we want to buy, or go to Hong Kong or Singapore. I don’t really buy high end, esp cream stuff, but I’ve been looking lately at reviews of the kiss and blush as well as giorgio armani fusion blush. They’re beautiful!
