YSL Rouge Volupte Shine – #12 Corail Incandescent Review

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine – #12 Corail Incandescent Review

This review was supposed to come to you 2 weeks back, but looked like it was jinxed…something keeps delaying this one – first the lipstick disappeared, between my stash, my display vanity, my “to-be-reviewed next” box – it just disappeared. Only to resurface in my bag. I started the review again, only to have my little one falling miserably ill, running extremely high fever, this week has been an absolute washout for me.

YSL Rouge Volupte Shine Corail Incandescent

Anyway, I thought I might as well take a break and divert my mind. So, I decided to pen down this elusive review while my cherub is taking a nap (thanks to all the medication pumped into him!) Poor thing!  I am back with a lipstick from one of my favorite brands again – a nice summery coral for you. With this, I declare the summers have begun!

Product Description:

Introducing Rouge Volupte Shine. Give in to the temptation of dazzling color. Succumb to a unique sensorial experience with extreme comfort and luminous shine. Hyaluronic acid microspheres help seal in moisture for 8 hours of hydration. Anti-oxidants and emollients help condition and soften lips.

What it is:

An innovative and comforting lipstick enhanced with fruit extracts rich in vitamins and antioxidants that leave lips visibly softer and smoother with up to eight hours of hydration.

What it does:

Succumb to a unique sensorial experience with dazzling color, extreme comfort, and luminous shine. The luscious, hydrating texture glides on your lips leaving a lightweight aqua shine effect, while Back Injection Technology offers extreme comfort and pleasure upon application. This innovative lipstick is formulated to protect lips from free radicals and seal in moisture for up to eight hours of hydration.

What else you need to know:

Antioxidants in natural extracts of pomegranate and rosemary reduce the look of fine lines, while candellila resin forms a thin, protective layer to help lock in moisture and magnify color and shine. Mineral pigments provide bright, vibrant color and a melting formula (instead of a solid stick) enabling smoother glide-on application and an ultrafine lightweight film on lips. Hyaluronic acid spheres hydrate and soften lips to help seal in moisture for up to eight hours of hydration.

Price:

$34 in US / In India @ INR 1900.

Packaging:

You know the drill by now, the YSL Voluptes and Volupte Shines have similar packaging – one of the most breathtakingly beautiful packaging which are also functional, thanks to the colour indicator on it; however, by the time you have as many of these as I do, it does become difficult to identify one pink from another.  The lipstick has a golden casing with the YSL logo running in the middle within a coloured strip – colour reflects the shade of the product in the tube.  Comes packaged in a cardboard golden box, which makes photography a nightmare!

My Experience with YSL Rouge Volupte Shine –  #12 Corail Incandescent:

Color: The colour is a perfect coral – not pinkish coral, not orangish colour, but true coral – perfect mix of pink, orange and red. In my opinion, the colour would suit all skin tones. Love the volupte shines for their glossy luminosity – an aqua shine effect. No shimmer or glitter here, it makes the lips look luminous and luscious with glossy colour.

Texture: The texture is very glossy – more glossy than creamy. It glides on like a dream with buttery softness. You do not need a lip balm below this.  It’s fairly moisturizing and you definitely don’t need a gloss above it! However, there is no stickiness which is generally associated with glosses.

Pigmentation: It packs on the pigment.  A single swipe deposits 60-70% color, you do need to build it with 2-3 swipes. However, with Corail Incandescent, you are not able to build up to the colour on the tube. The colour though actually opaque on the lips appears translucent because of the glossiness.

Lasting Power:  The product lasts about 3-4 hours, which in itself is not too great; however, it leaves behind a pretty stain, which sticks on for hours, till you actually remove it with a remover. Since the lipstick is moisturizing, the stain itself is non-patchy and even.

    1. Vie is better – fever has dropped down to 99.7 instead of the 103.6 that he had earlier! Praying he gets better soon!

*thankyou* Sumera -Im still trying to take decent pictures…want to reach the perfection of Rati’s pics!

  1. i hope that the kiddo is perfectly well now….everytime i see these lipsticks i just go out of words…i love the packaging so much that i can buy them at this high price just because of the packaging…..and this is such a beautiful shade…..loved it on you KK….. *puchhi*

    1. *thankyou* Swati! Yes, the packaging is quite drool worthy – like a piece of jewellery! But the beauty is that they have such a wide range of colours that apart from the packaging, you should definitely be able to find a colour you like!

  2. The color does not translate the same as in the tube, but it looks even better on lips, a true coral !!! amazing shade and packaging, u always pick the best, perfect for summers 🙂

    1. *thankyou* Dhara – yes, the colour on lips does not build unto the colour in the tube but is still pretty fantastic. It screams summer!!! *happy dance* *happy dance*

  3. wow i love the color *drool* *drool* but will it covers my pigmented lips? need to check out in person i think, these ysl ones are looking differently in tube, different on lips, actually these are looking different on diff skin tones, i tested some last week in sephora, but bought glosses 9 and 11 as per ur suggestion *puchhi* *hifive* , i am thinking to buy lipsticks now, so i am checking out this for sure, it looks great on u *puchhi* lets see how it looks on me, i am in love with there packing *jai ho* *jai ho* i want to buy them for there packing, they are luxurious *drool* .

How is ur health now? how is ur little one now? if v get sick thats ok we can manage, but if little ones are sick, we cant manage and they too, take care.

    1. So true Sravanthi! we can manage our own sickness but not theirs!! His fever needs to break. the problem is that he won’t sit still for even a minute even when running high fever – ends up making things worse!! *headbang* *headbang*

With Volupte Shines, a bit of lip pigmentation will peep through – but does not look bad. If you want to cover pigmentation totally, go for the Voluptes instead of Volupte shines.

  4. Kukpreet you are spoiling me… you are. 😛 This week has been a wash out for me as well. It’s today after so many days I am feeling a bit better but all the strong medicines have bogged me down. 🙁

Hope the little one is doing fine now. 🙂
