YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizer Vert Green Review

Hello everyone.
The latest trend in makeup has been all about color correcting. I have fairly clear skin hence never thought I needed any color correction until recently when my skin started to act up and have a lot more breakouts than usual. My skin has been red and irritated, and I had a hard time making my makeup look good. So, I decided to go the color correcting route and bought the shade ‘Vert Green’ to counteract the redness. This review will be on the YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizer Vert Green.

My Experience with YSL Touche Eclat Neutralizer Vert Green:

Packaging:
I have always loved YSL’s packaging. Their products are always pretty to look at even though they may or may not be a hit in the performance department. This product comes in a pen type format where you click the bottom button and the liquid seeps through the bristles which gives fast and easy application.

Texture/Consistency/Blendability:
This product has a thin consistency and it is very easy to blend. It applies evenly and, with a few dabs, settles to an even, streak-free finish. Blending can be done with fingertips or a beauty sponge (which is what I prefer) and it works both ways.

Coverage:
When I initially decided to go with color correction, I was tied between these YSL ones and the new Urban Decay Naked Skin Correctors. But, in the end, I decided to go with the YSL one because the UD one was very opaque, which is a quality I loved in their concealer. But, when it comes to color correctors, most of the time you will wear them layered underneath your regular foundation. The thing I like about the YSL one is that it is semi-opaque in one layer and buildable to full opacity. This means, it still covers and corrects, but it does provide a bit more translucent effect than the Urban Decay one. Hence, you do not end up with a big green patch on your face which may translate through sheer coverage foundations.

Whenever I wear my foundation without color correcting, my skin does not look even as the red areas still appear more pigmented than the rest of my skin. Hence, altering and making my foundation appear uneven. The corrector neutralizes the strong red tone of my breakouts and when my foundation & concealer go on top everything looks even and one-tone like it is meant to look.

Keep in mind, you only need to apply on your problem areas which in my case was the redness from my breakouts on my cheeks. You need not pile on this product and cover your redness; just apply enough to neutralize and then cover with foundation and a concealer if you need more coverage.

It dries down quickly hence when you top it with your foundation it does not cake up, slide around or mix with the cream to turn into a different hue. Just make sure you dab and tap in and not rub the foundation.

Shade:
The green variant is a pale minty green.

Finish:
This corrector has a satin finish, but the finish of this product does not matter as you will cover it up with your foundation/concealer.

Staying Power:
Staying power was great. It wore all day under my foundation and did not feel heavy or cakey, nor did it not crease or crack. It wasn’t too drying nor was it hydrating. For super dry skin, use it over moisturized skin and you should be good.

Fragrance:
It has a faint makeup-y scent which fades away quickly.

Overall:
This is a fantastic product which is very useful for those who suffer from redness and want their makeup to look flawless. I highly recommend this.
