I love YSL lipsticks and can’t have enough of them! I really wanted to try their latest launch, i.e., tint in balm range which is kind of similar to their “Sheer Candy” range. The shade that I will be reviewing today is “Dream Me N*de.”
A hybrid lipstick that combines nourishing balm care with glowing, sheer color for a hint of tint that enhances lip color. VoluptéTint-in-Balm’s unique, dual formula gives your lips twice the benefits—plus, a signature, pomegranate scent. The lip-shaped heart that runs through the bullet is packed with conditioning lip balm ingredients like apricot butter and jojoba oil for deeply nourished lips. This lip-shaped core runs from top to bottom, so that it never runs out. The outer core of the lipstick provides a lasting kiss of tint, imparting glowing sheer color that’s both vivid and brilliant.
My Experience with YSL Volupte Tint-In-Balm #1 Dream Me Nude:
The packaging is the same as that of “Rouge Volupte Oil in Stick” but this is a silver version of that tube. This lipstick comes housed in a beautiful silver tube with YSL logo band wrapped on the centre of the tube with a colour-coded strip underneath. The case has a nice weight to it which makes it look and feel very luxe.
Not only the packaging is beautiful, the bullet and the formulation is equally stunning. First, the bullet has a lip embossed or printed on it which doesn’t fade away and runs through the whole lipstick. #1 Dream Me N*de is a deep n*de color with pink undertones and would look flattering on fair to medium skin tones, but on deeper complexions, it won’t even show up.
The texture of this “tint in balm” is similar to sheer candy when it comes to the balmy texture, but when it comes to pigmentation, this tint in balm is way more pigmented than sheer candies and a little less pigmented than Rouge Volupte Oil in Stick lipsticks.
This lipstick is smooth and has a slip. It glides on effortlessly delivering sheer to medium coverage on the lips. It’s quite buildable and one swipe will give a slight wash of colour and 3 to 4 swipes will deliver medium coverage.
On me, it does not feather but some people with mature lips might notice some feathering. Like all YSL lip products, this lipstick too has a fruity scent which might bother some people, but personally, I love the scent of YSL lipsticks. Because of the shine, it helps in mimicking plump and fuller lips. It does not settle into fine lines of my lips, which is a major plus for me. It does transfer with eating and drinking, even gets completely worn off most of the times.
YSL tint in balm does fade evenly, leaving behind a beautiful stain. It does feel very comfortable and lightweight on the lips. Even after it has completely worn off, my lips feel hydrated. The only drawback is the bullet shape – it does not have a pointy tip which makes it so hard to apply precisely. This particular shade cannot survive through a meal since it’s a n*de shade but without eating or drinking, I get 3 to 3.5 hours of wear time.
