Yves Rocher Nutri Repair Mask Review

My eyes have become a scanner for some time now! I keep looking for dry, dull, damaged or frizzy written on any bottle, tube, tub or pack. And, the moment I get any combination of these words, I lap it up as if it will vanish within seconds from the shelf!

Initially, I would not pay sufficient attention to the ingredients on the pack and would send a lot of money down the drain this way. Also, I would not even get good results. On further research, I realised that not every product will do good to my hair since SLS, Parabens, Silicones were still a part of the key ingredients. So, while surfing through the duty free shelves of the Changi (Singapore) Airport, I came across an interesting hair mask from a reputed brand which claimed to have what I was looking for. So, here is my experience of Yves Rocher Nutri Repair Mask with Jojoba and Shea for very dry or frizzy hair.

About Yves Rocher:

A French company, named after its founder, which pioneered modern use of natural ingredients in cosmetics. It started with a boy selling a natural ointment at a tender age of 14 in 1930s,which finally turned into a company valued at 2 Billion Euros in the 21st century! The company’s ideology is clearly understood in this quote by the founder, “If you have to test your ‘products’ on animals, you don’t know what you’re doing.”

Claims & Usage:

A special mention of Jojoba and Shea has been made on the tub.

Jojoba has the same molecular structure as sebum and thus, the scalp readily accepts it. Shea on the other hand is an excellent moisturizer which helps in locking moisture without leaving the heavy and greasy feeling.

Shelf Life:

Use within 6 months of opening.

Price:

Singapore $18 or INR 900 for 150 ml. Online retailing is INR 1000+

My Experience with Yves Rocher Nutri Repair Mask:

Packaging: The mask comes in a light green transparent tub with a brown screw cap on the top. There was also a silver foil to secure the product, under the cap. The size of the tub is adequate and it comfortably fits in your palm. You wouldn’t find the tub bulky to hold. Packaging is overall neat.

Product: It is a creamy, white mask. It comes out like a smooth cream from the tub; not as thick as a body butter. Upon rubbing on your hands, the product quantity starts to vanish which implies how well it gets absorbed. It smells like a much mellowed and calmer version of TBS Argan oil range.

Product Efficacy Experiment:

Day 1: Washed hair with my regular Patanjali Shampoo and applied mask for 5 minutes. Dried hair and applied detangler. Hair smelled good till evening. Felt a slight softness in hair and regular bounce.

Day 2: Did not wet hair. Fragrance gone. Softness remained, but hair felt dry by day end.

Day 3: Applied Mask for 5 mins to wet hair, no shampoo. Post wash, applied detangler. Fragrance back and Stayed till night. Softness improved.

Day 4: Similar to Day 2.

Day 5: Washed hair with a Kerastese shampoo and then, mask. Fragrance and softness improved. I did not use detangler that day. Soft hair till day end and slight fragrance remains.

Day 6: Similar to Day 4. I noticed my hair looked more fluffed up (curly hair and additional volume are not a good combination). This could be because I did not use a detangler the previous day. By day end, my hair were still soft, but dry.

I want to talk about this product’s claims first. ‘Strengthened, your hair regains suppleness, vitality and an incredible soft touch.’ Based on above experiments, I can definitely comment on certain aspects within these 6 days.

Softness will get full marks as I felt an improvement every time I applied it. I have felt the hair strands have become smoother and my fingers run through my hair more comfortably. Strengthening, suppleness and vitality are too early to talk about. I personally feel for my kind of hair, I need to empty the tub to make a strong conclusion about the above points. Also, I suggest an equally good shampoo should be paired with this for better results. Else, it will be futile to use this mask.

Pros of Yves Rocher Nutri Repair Mask:

• NO Silicones, NO Parabens, NO Artificial Colorant!
• Goodness of Shea and Jojoba. More than 98% of the ingredients are natural.
• Softness claim is true and improves on regular application.
• Calming smell that stays for many hours.
• Hair is not weighed down at all. And, natural bounce is maintained.

Cons of Yves Rocher Nutri Repair Mask:

• Availability in India. The company has launched cosmetics in India, but hair care is not planned for some time.
• Expensive; considering you get only 150 ml of product for that price.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5

Conclusion:

Overall, I know that with regular use it will definitely improve the hair structure and continue to increase the softness. I wanted it to tame down the frizz in my hair in those six days, but since the product doesn’t claim to do so, I shouldn’t judge it on that. I have come across a very good product after a long time for my hair. The ingredient list and the immediate softness is something I had never experienced before.

Would I Recommend Yves Rocher Nutri Repair Mask?

Those who have dry, damaged and Frizzy hair should give this a try if the cost doesn’t pinch.
If you like to indulge in luxurious TLC for hair, you can include this in your routine to reap maximum benefits.

Would I Repurchase Yves Rocher Nutri Repair Mask?

Even though, I am yet to come across any hair mask with such ingredients, I would not immediately repurchase it. Also, I would want to explore the sea of existing hair masks out there.
