My Experience with Yves Rocher Sebo Vegetal Purifying Micellar Water 2 in 1:

Packaging: It comes in a long, green, cylindrical bottle. The flip open cap shuts tightly, but I feel it is slightly bulky to travel with. There is a lot of product information printed on the body of the bottle.

I have used the Sebo Vegetal Anti-Blemish Cream previously and liked it, hence I purchased the micellar water from the same range. To be honest, I had high expectations from the product, but I was kind of disappointed. The term “2 in 1 micellar water” conjured images of an efficient cleansing water to remove makeup and purify skin. Sadly, this micellar water is not meant as a great makeup remover (which I learnt a little late unfortunately).

The scent is quite refreshing and pleasing. I feel the Sebo Vegetal range has the same fresh fragrance which feels quite nice. The micellar water is transparent, runny and not at all sticky.
The first time I used this, I poured this micellar water directly onto cotton and rubbed my face. While it certainly tingled, I wasn’t worried much, but the moment I started removing my eye makeup, all hell broke loose. My eyes which are already sensitive, reacted and stung badly to this. I removed my lid makeup fine, but on coming into contact with lash line, this severely irritated my eyes, leaving them red and teary.

Second time, I was careful, I used it only for my face leaving out the eyes and it was fine. My skin looked fresh and tight, but it didn’t remove my smudge-proof lipstick effectively.

So, I checked and found that its intended use is more as an astringent toner and it does perform well that way. I now use a wet cotton pad to apply this on my face and it cleans light makeup, greasy skin, open pores and controls sebum production. I follow it up with a light moisturizer, and feel my skin looking fresh and tight. So ultimately, I use it as an astringent for my oily, sensitive skin and it hasn’t broken me out. For days when I wear light face makeup, like a BB cream and powder, it suffices. I think I am kind of disheartened that this micellar water doesn’t work well on makeup removing aspect. Overall, it is a good product, but nothing that I am gushing about.

Pros of Yves Rocher Sebo Vegetal Purifying Micellar Water 2 in 1:

  • Yves Rocher is an organic brand.
  • Refreshing scent.
  • Cleans skin and light face makeup well.
  • Cleans greasy skin, open pores and controls sebum production.
  • No residue left, so no need of washing.
  • Great astringent for oily-combination skin.
  • Paraben, mineral oil, colorant and silicon free.

Cons of Yves Rocher Sebo Vegetal Purifying Micellar Water 2 in 1:

  • Stings my eyes very badly.
  • Doesn’t remove makeup very effectively.
  • Bulky bottle.

Would I Recommend/Repurchase Yves Rocher Sebo Vegetal Purifying Micellar Water 2 in 1?
As an astringent, it is good. While I like how cleansed and fresh my skin feels after using this, I hate the fact that I need to use a separate eye makeup remover to remove traces of makeup from my sensitive eyes. I would rather reserve it for days when I don’t wear eye makeup at all, or wear just a shadow. I won’t repurchase neither would I recommend it wholeheartedly. You can try it as an astringent for oily acne-prone skin.
