Today, I am here to share my views on YSL la lacquercouturé in shade; retro taupe. It’s a taupe brown shade. Do read on, to know how this shade performs.
Price: $26/- for 10 ml.
A pantheon of fashion inspired shades, from subtle and natural to vibrant and dramatic, which provide a high shine finish for an instant touch of glamour. A long-wear formula with chile rose oil, which strengthens, moisturises and protects nails from chipping and cracking. Dries fast and applies evenly without streaking. La Laque Couture is equipped with a custom-made brush that allows an easy and fast application. The nail lacquer perfectly adheres to the brush that pulls the drop instead of pushing it for a flawless and intense result.
My Experience with YSL La Lacquer Couturé Rétro Taupe:
Currently, I have two nail polishes from the YSL La lacquer Couturé range. I have already reviewed the other shade Dore Orfevre. Today, I will be sharing my views on the shade Rétro Taupe. As the name suggests, it’s a taupe brown coloured shade. La couture nail lacquer is packaged in a rectangular shaped, glass bottle with a self-designed, round-shaped, black coloured cap, which has an applicator attached. A golden coloured outer cap is provided, which makes the packaging look elegant and authentic. This elegant looking bottle is then packaged in a golden coloured cardboard box.
It has a creamy texture, but coverage is very poor. This particular shade does not apply evenly and tends to streak. Pigmentation is not so great, at least three coats are required to give an opaque finish to my nails. Lasting power is not even a day, starts chipping and wearing out on the same day.
I shake the bottle well before use and also in-between applications, then too it applies unevenly and streaks. Does not cover the nail tips. The brush design, shape and size are perfect for smooth and even application without spreading to the cuticles and sides of the nail bed. My nail gets covered, in just one swipe most of the times.Even though the consistency of this shade is described creamy, it tends to be watery and drips from the brush whilst applying. Does not take much time to dry in between coats.
It is enriched with Chilean rose bush and extract of coralline, that is a very good source of calcium. Indeed, a good treatment for brittle nails. It helps fortify and protect nails. This shade can be used for casual wear, as well for special occasions. Even though this shade suits my pigmented nails, I am not happy with its performance.
Pros of La Lacquer Couturé Rétro Taupe:
• Taupe brown shade.
• Enriched with Chilean rose bush and extract of coralline.
• The formula helps fortify and protect nails.
• Brush size, shape and design enables a smooth application.
• Lacquer has a creamy texture.
• Does not spread to the cuticles or nail sides.
• Elegant and travel-friendly packaging.
Cons of YSL La Lacquer Couturé Rétro Taupe:
• Tends to chip and wear out very quickly.
• Tends to drip from the brush while applying.
• Pigmentation is not all that great.
• Applies unevenly and tends to give a streaking effect.
• Not worth the price, due to unsatisfactory performance.
IMBB Rating: 2/5.
Would I Recommend / Repurchase YSL La Lacquer Couturé Rétro Taupe?
No, I do not recommend this particular shade from this range. The reason being, similar coloured shades are available in the market, which may be priced at par or even lower and give a good performance. I am definitely not repurchasing this shade.
Thanks & Cheers!
