My Experience with Yves Saint Laurent Souffle D’Eclat Sheer and Radiant Loose Powder:

I think investing in a good loose powder is sooooo important. I mean, you spend all your time in doing foundation, concealer, cream contouring, highlighting to perfection ..all the jazz and boom! One stroke of wrong powder can totally make or break the look for you plus you can use loose powder in so many ways during your makeup – (5 Ways To Use Translucent Powder), it better be a good one. I picked this YSL Powder a few weeks back and I cannot even stress how amazing and gorgeous this loose powder is!

It comes in 4 colors – I picked up the shade #3, which is a pale yellowish color. A lot of times, it does remind me of Ben Nye’s Banana Powder but Ben Ney’s powder is more yellowish than this one. The closest to this one, in my opinion, is Laura Mercier Loose Powder, both in terms of texture and colouring.

It comes in this gorgeous clear jar with a gold cap. There is YSL etched on the cap. A little powder puff sits on top of the sifter that prevents from spillage and can also work as a powder puff. It is such a finely milled powder, the texture is like dreamy smooth. It adds that thin veil of layer – almost like a little real-time Photoshop blurring on the skin.

It sets the makeup, does not look cakey, does not look heavy and goes on extremely thin, almost feels like nothing on the skin. Plus it has such an amazing lasting power. I have worn it for good 7-8 hours and it has really held my makeup in place. It has especially prevented my under-eye concealer from creasing. I mean, especially, when I started wearing it, initially I felt that it only made my makeup look better when I checked my makeup after a few hours of wear. It also gives that soft look to the skin. I also like that it is not very matte.

If you use it sparingly, you can still keep that dewiness on your skin, but you can also totally make your skin soft matte if you prefer. It has micro mother of pearl pigment that prevents it from making the skin look flat. I have normal to dry skin and it does not make my skin any drier despite this extreme cold weather. The powder is meant for all skin types, even for those with sensitive skin.

My favorite loose powder is Chanel Loose Powder, but that gives a more matte finish than this. This one is more soft matte, but I absolutely love both of them equally – wouldn’t keep one over the other. There is no fragrance to it, nothing that I can smell. I absolutely adore this powder. It looks great and feels great. It does everything a powder should do without giving that powdery look to the skin.
