Hello gorgeous Imbbians,
A very happy and prosperous 2015 to all of you from our family! I would like to start this blissful year with an awesome product from one of my dream brands – Yves Saint Laurent, yay! I received it as a surprise gift from my hubby along with a few more gifts on our 4th anniversary! I am more excited as it is my first YSL beauty product plus a fresh launch from Yves Saint Laurent. So, let’s read more about Yves Saint Laurent Volupte Lip Tint In Oil in Cherry My Cherie 😛
$32 for 0.20 Oz (6 ml), excludes shipping and taxes.
A revolutionary lip color with a lip tint suspended in a deep conditioning oil. Coat your lips with this lip tint for a lightweight texture that instantly melts onto lips. It is infused with a blend of four essential oils for deep hydration: apricot kernel oil, coriander fruit oil, jojoba seed oil, and possiflora edulis seed oil. Its exclusive applicator envelops the lips in full color and allows for a precise and uniform application. Lightweight and non-sticky, this lip tint offers a new and luminous shine while the tint effect enhances the natural beauty of the lips—making it the perfect combination for youthful looking lips.
Man from where I should start about ultimate luxury product! I am spellbound bound by its simple yet classy silver delicate packaging with that “YSL” logo embossed right in the middle of tube. YSL is truly a treat to the eyes and lips. I love its unique leaf-shaped doe-foot applicator, which is totally different than the other applicators I have used before. It helps in wearing this sheer oil-cum-balm effortlessly in every corner of the lips. I feel a cool rose breeze around me which deviate my eyes and senses to this beautiful shade inside with that heavenly smell. The scent comes as a sudden strong rose garden breeze, settling in your breath and lingering on for a few hours.
My Experience with Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil in 5 Cherry My Cherie:
Well, this shade is a gorgeous carnation pink to me with glossy finish which settles down to a sheer stain after a few hours. It is a subtle wearable pink for most fair/pale/medium Indian skin tones as I can see how it amplifies beauty as well as complexion of my natural skin tone. Initially, I was quite skeptical to see a sheer oil product in the tube which came out as pleasant surprise on my lips with buildable color payoff and luminous finish which stays for good 4+ hours. It is not for pigmented lips though it may conceal lightly pigmented lips pretty well for a few hours.
The texture of the product is quite tricky, it’s a sheer pink tinted oil which seems quite runny than usual lip glosses and/or products that I have tried so far. The brush applicator makes it easier to slather it on the lips with ease and precision without feathering or bleeding around the lips. In fact, it settles to a perfect glossy sheer pink tint on lips. However, I fear it might highlight dry chapped patches of my lips as it tends to settle in fine lines after several hours of wear. It’s slightly disappointing to see that the shade becomes deep after a few hours of wear, fading into a pink stain which tends to highlight finest of fine lines on my lips 😛
It might be tricky for dry lips for the same reason, it might highlight even mild lines on the lips. However, I am more impressed by the fact that it does not transfer at all, yes I did a test while dining out on 31st night 😛 I feel quite embarrassed at times when my red hot or pale pink lips leave their mark on restaurant’s cutlery and their linen, but this oily gloss did not leave a single stain on cutlery or the linen! This is quite an achievement according to me.
The wear time is quite impressive too, almost 4-6 hours with several water/tea breaks and it leaves behind a gorgeous pink stain post dinner/lunch which enhances the natural pale pinkness of my lips. I do need a lip balm after a few hours though as it is not much hydrating. I won’t say it dries out my lips, but it is not intense hydrating either. Overall, I feel it might be tricky for dry, chapped lips. Other than that, I totally love this gift from hubby though I am not very convinced with other lighter shades from this range.
Let’s sum up pros and cons:
Pros of Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil in 5 Cherry My Cherie:
- A gorgeous carnation pink lip product with revolutionary tint in oil formula which provides nourishment of oil and also gives sheer pigmentation on lips.
- Provides hydration to lips as long as it stays.
- Seems almost like a translucent oil in tube that gives sheer yet buildable color payoff on the lips.
- Gives quite a glossy and sheer carnation pink hue to lips, settles into a pink stain after that.
- Texture of oily gloss is quite runny, does not bleed or feather around the lips.
- Wear time is quite good, from 4-6 hours with several tea/coffee breaks.
- Does not transfer at all.
- Classy and totally luxury packaging.
Cons of Yves Saint Laurent Volupté Tint-In-Oil in 5 Cherry My Cherie:
- Sheer color payoff might be tricky for pigmented lips.
- Shade tends to settle into the fine lines of the lips, which in turn accentuates dry patches and lip lines.
- None of the shades in this range are deep.
- Not intensely hydrating, hence not suitable during winters, especially for dry chapped lips.
Well, this is a gift, hence I love it 🙂 Moreover, carnationa pinks are my new reds nowadays 😛 Honestly, I am not much convinced to try other shades from this range as none of them seem intensely pigmented; however, they are definitely good for summers. I love the classy packaging more than the product inside.
For me, it’s 3.9/5!
