Zoya nail polishes have always been my favorite and I had bought a few nail polishes from their “matte” range over the holiday season. So, read on to find out more about the shades Amal, Iris and Yves.

My Experience with Zoya Matte Velvet Lacquer – Amal, Iris, Yves:
Packaging/Brush Applicator: The Winter 2015 collection comes in lovely matte finish glass bottles with black caps. The bottles are quite sturdy. Even though the packaging is quite simple, it still looks pretty. The brush is good and picks up a good quantity of the nail polish. The application is easy and smooth too.
Pigmentation/Texture: The nail polishes from this range have a very strong pigmentation and a single coat is enough to cover the nails. The nail polish applies smoothly with no streaking.
Drying Power: The nail polish dries pretty quickly. Even 2 coats dry out fast.
Staying Power: The staying power on these nail polishes is very good and the polish easily stays on my nails for 4-5 days before it starts fading.
Now, for some detailed review of each of the colors:
1. Amal: Zoya describes “Amal” as a classic crimson red with a ruby red pearl fleck in the traditional Matte Velvet finish. This is indeed a lovely warm-toned red which will surely suit Indian skin tones. The finish is matte.
This nail polish has tiny sparkle flecks in it, but since this is a matte nail polish, the sparkle only adds a nice dimension. Despite being a bright color, the matte finish makes this a very wearable nail polish.
2. Iris: Zoya describes “Iris” as a deep amethyst with a fuchsia pearl fleck in the traditional matte velvet finish. This is a gorgeous deep purple shade with red undertones. The finish is again matte.
This shade also has shimmer flecks in it which again only add a nice depth to the nail polish. I find this to be a very lovely nail polish for the colder months.
3. Yves: Can be best described as a deep sapphire that’s midway in between indigo and royal blue with a blue pearl fleck in the traditional matte velvet finish.
This is indeed a very beautiful blue shade in a matte finish. The pearl flecks add a dimension and don’t allow the nail polish to look too flat. Those of you who are wanting to wear a dark blue nail polish, but are worried that it might look garish, should try this one out because the matte finish somehow mutes the brightness. One word of caution: this nail polish stains the nails very badly. I would absolutely recommend wearing a base coat.
Pros of Zoya Matte Velvet Lacquer – Amal, Iris, Yves:

- Good staying power (4-5 days).
- Dries very fast.
- Good consistency of polish, applies well.
- Free from harmful ingredients like Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde resin, Toluene, Camphor and Dibutyl Phthalate.
Cons of Zoya Matte Velvet Lacquer – Amal, Iris, Yves:
- Slightly on the expensive side.
- The shade “Yves” stains the nails badly.

I would surely recommend you to try these nail polishes from Zoya. The formula is pretty good, the colors are quite beautiful and the finish is unique. I already have a few more Zoya nail polishes and might not repurchase these exact shades next.
