This is going to be my first review on IMBB. All this while, I had been a silent reader and admirer of all the posts, but never mustered the courage to write one. But now I felt it was time to shed my inhibitions and make some contribution too. Today, I am going to review a lipstick from the Colorbar Velvet Matte Range called Passion. Actually, I was on the lookout for a typical maroon shade to go with traditional wear when I chanced upon this lipstick. The price factor attracted me as I didn’t want to invest much in a shade I would be using only occasionally.
Price and Quantity:
I had purchased it for Rs. 220/- from a wholesale shop, but now they have hiked the price to Rs. 275/-
My Take on Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Passion:
The lipstick comes in a standard metallic steel-like finish case with a transparent cap. It’s also transparent at the bottom which helps to identify the shade easily in our vanity.
About the shade:
It is a deep reddish maroon shade which looks deeper in the casing, but perfect (the way I like it) on the lips. It is the color that will suit almost all skin tones; though fair skinned beauties will have to apply it with a light hand. I think this particular shade will appeal more to mature ladies. It’s a very “wedding” shade for me (to be worn for weddings and receptions where I am all decked up).
Pigmentation and Texture:
This range of lipsticks is crazily pigmented and one swipe is sufficient to get the full color. The lipstick glides on smoothly and gives out even color. It does not settle into the fine lines. The finish, I would say, is semi-matte. It looks quite moisturising on the lips when freshly applied. However, after a couple of hours, it tends to dry out the lips.
The staying power is quite amazing. It stays on for, like, forever!! It stays on me for a good 5-6 hours with in between meals. After that, it starts fading evenly. Like all Velvet Matte lipsticks, this one too stains; but I kind of like the tint which is better than exposing the pigmented bare lips.
Pros of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Passion:
- Sturdy bullet, good packaging with color showing through the bottom.
- Fantastic pigmentation.
- High staying power.
- Not at all heavy on lips.
Cons of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick – Passion:
- Can get a little dry after some time.
- Removal of lip stain is a pain.
Here I am wearing Colorbar Velvet Matte Lip Color- Passion with just one swipe without any lipbalm underneath.
