My Drugstore.com Makeup Haul

I recently had some friends visiting the U.S., so it was a good chance to have them get some makeup stuff for me. The idea was to order online while giving their shipping address, so that they could bring it back for me. I only needed some basic drugstore stuff, so amazon.com was my first choice. But the stuff I needed was being sold not directly by amazon, but by various sellers that sell through amazon.com. So I’d have to pay separate shipping for each seller. That would also have meant that my friends would receive separate parcels for each of my orders. To avoid inconvenience to them, and to save on shipping cost, I needed an online store where I could order everything from one place and pay shipping for just one package. I decided to go with drugstore.com where they were shipping all orders above $25 for free. I didn’t want to place a huge order, just in case the package didn’t arrive by the time my friends were due to return. Also, I wanted to only order stuff that would last a while so that I wouldn’t need to replenish it any time in the near future. I received my stuff yesterday and I’m very excited to share it with you all! It is not a major haul or anything, but just some things that I had difficulty locating in Bangalore.

First up is a clear lip liner from the Maybelline Color Sensational range. It is a white pencil that goes on completely invisible, so you can use it with any shade of lipstick. A clear lip liner prevents any lipstick from travelling outside the lip line while being transparent itself. The pencil is ultra soft and creamy. I will review it soon. It cost me $5.99.

Next is a peachy pink blush from Covergirl. It is called Pretty Peach 150 and it is from their Cheekers line of blushes. I had come across many good reviews of Covergirl Cheekers blushes and was wanting a peachy blush for long. So I chose this shade, after much confusion, since it was very difficult to figure out the true colour of the blush from the pictures. It turned out to be not peachy, but pinky-peach. I’m liking it so far especially for its high pigmentation. You only need to swipe your blush brush once on the pan for each side of your face. It looks like a cool toned blush in the pan and the pictures, but on my wheatish skin it goes on as warm pink and looks quite natural. It cost me $3.99.

I also got a pack of  Maybelline Expert Eyes Twin Brow & Eye Pencils in Dark Brown. I’d been wanting to buy the brown shade of Maybelline’s Expert Wear eye liner to use as an eyebrow pencil, but an SA convinced me that Maybelline has discontinued that shade in India (have they?). So I chose the Twin Brow and Eye pencils, known to be the #1 eyebrow pencils in the U.S. They are a set of two small sized pencils that can be used as eye liners as well as eyebrow pencils. The dark brown turned out to be a little too light for my brows, but the only darker option was black. I should have chosen another brand, perhaps, but I can work with these. They are useless as eye liners but good enough as eyebrow pencils. They cost me $2.99.

Then I got some Biore Deep Cleansing Pore Strips. These are strips that you wet and stick on your nose and then pull off after some time. They pull out all the blackheads and tighten the pores in that area. I’ve used them in the past, in a different brand, and have found them to be the best and only way to get rid of blackheads in one shot. After I ordered these, I spotted some in my local Health and Glow store, but I wasn’t sure about their quality. And you use one strip say every 1-2 months, so this pack of 14 is going to last me a while. They cost me $10.49.

Last, but not the least, I got a lipstick in Penny Candy from Covergirl Continuous Color line. This range boasts of 2 benefits in 1 – long wear and moisture care. The lipstick itself is a pinky-bronze one with silver and pink shimmer. This was the hardest to select since the shades of the lipsticks were very difficult to figure out from the pictures. The lipstick turned out to be the perfect shade I wanted, but a bit too shimmery maybe. It was more of a ‘just because’ purchase that had to be made in order to jack up the order to $25. It cost me $5.49.

Drugstore.com threw in a free sample of Tom’s of Maine Daily Moisture beauty bar. It is a small sized bar (< 1 oz) that contains olive oil and vitamin E for maintaining skin’s moisture. It also claims to be an all natural product that is cruelty free and environment friendly.

Apart from this stuff, I also got myself a T-shirt from Threadless.com. It is a girly design on a cream colored T-shirt and fits like a dream. It cost me $12.
