I’m back with another Essence product! Ever since I’ve seen some youtubers use NYX soft matte lip cream and Lime Crime Velvetines, I’ve gone crazy. They are available in India, but I find them to be very pricey. So, I kept looking for similar products that won’t burn a hole in my pocket, and when I saw this little baby, I had to get it. Let’s get to reviewing it!
Matt = a must! if you love this lip trend, the velvety-matt, long-lasting lipglosses are ideal for you! the light, mousse-like texture lasts on your lips for several hours without drying them out. particularly easy to apply thanks to the flat applicator.
My Experience with Essence XXXL Long Lasting Matt Effect Lip Gloss in 07 Silky Red:
Packaging: This lip gloss comes in a transparent plastic body which almost looks like glass. The transparent body helps in locating the gloss easily. The applicator is transparent as well. It has a long doe-foot applicator which helps to pick the right amount of the lip cream and spread it very easily. There is no mention of ingredients anywhere on the packaging. It doesn’t say much about the product too. Anyway, the packaging is handy and travel friendly.
Colour: I totally fell in love with the colour when I first saw it. It’s a yellow-based red. It’s the kind of red that makes you look a bit fair. It also makes your teeth look whiter. I absolutely love the colour. It’s gorgeous and would suit mostly all the skin tones. While swatching it, I had also uploaded a pic on my whatsapp and I got so many compliments on this lip color. Also, this kind of red is a very safe red, anyone can pull off this red. The pigmentation is on point. Only two swipes are needed for that gorgeous bold red pout.
Texture: The texture is superb. It’s so creamy and so smooth, I love it. It moisturises my lips and even after removing the lip cream off my lips, they don’t feel dry like most matte lipsticks do. It settles to a semi-matte finish, but doesn’t dry out completely. The application is so easy due to the texture. It glides on like dream, no tugging no pulling. When I put this on, I did not exfoliate my lips, but still it did not settle into the fine lines or make my lip look crappy. So, one can easily get away without exfoliation.
Staying Power: This lip cream stays for about 5 hours, but it fades so damn easily! It transfers very easily. It doesn’t survive meals. When it fades, it leaves a very nice tint on the lips.
Smell/Taste: It has a very distinct smell of butterscotch and vanilla ice cream. I love the fragrance but sometimes, it’s too much for me. Luckily, it doesn’t linger, so I don’t have a problem with that. It doesn’t taste like anything though!
