The biggest festival of Bengalis is here!!!! Durga Puja is a four day long revelry in Bengal and we the Bengalis simply go crazy in preparing for it!! It seems as though all the world’s fashion show, model hunt, beauty contest and valentine’s day is going to happen in only these four days right here in Kolkata :)!!! Altogether it’s the time for letting your hair down when the most frugal becomes a shop-a-haulic and people like me just refuse to leave the shops . 🙁
So here are some stuff I got for myself in this Puja season (ok..not this much only.. I also got Maybelline Matte Mousse foundation, whitestay UV compact, ultraline liner in black , lakme pure rouge blush and 2 lakme glide on eyecolors. But these have already been talked about so many times here.. so I exclude describing them again ). These, below, are the new-bies in my kitty:
- Lakme Perfect Radiance Face Wash
- Maybelline Color Sensational Lipstick in shades Crazy for Coffee and Glamorous Red
- Streetwear Crystal Shine Lipgloss
- Streetwear highlighter
- Elle 18 eye color pencil
1) Lakme Perfect Radiance Face Wash (Price Rs 75): It is the first product that I got from the Lakme perfect radiance range. It has a mild scent and is creamy in texture. It is very similar to the Ponds White Beauty face wash because it feels and lathers in the same way. The Lakme perfect radiance face wash leaves the face clean and fresh – but err..dry. No visible radiance or glow observed after washL(. Also the price is more than the Ponds white beauty face wash. I am not happy with the results and would revert to Ponds face wash as soon as I finish this off.
2) Maybelline Color Sensational Lipsticks (Price Rs290): Well this lipstick has already been extensively reviewed in IMBB-so I would just put up the swatches here. The crazy for coffee is a brown color with plum undertones and the glamorous red is a soft red with a pink undertone. Nice everyday wearable colors. Since these are sheer in finish, dabbing your lips with a tissue paper slightly makes them appear somewhat matte and I found the colors to turn out to be even more beautiful. 🙂
3) Streetwear Crystal Shine Lip gloss (Price Rs 275): It is a sheer gloss with lots of shimmer and is brownish plum in color (shade: Plum Bite) I had high expectations from this one-liked the color very much -and it failed me miserably-because I never used a gloss with such a bad staying power. It’s like applying glycerin on lips with the wand :(-it wears off without fail after 5 minutes leaving behind no color, moisture whatsoever. May be good if you use it to top up on a matte lipstick-but I am seriously angry with this product (well spending all these bucks I could have bought a Maybelline color sensational gloss-which would easily hook this one off the boundary in color, moisture and staying power). So this streetwear gloss is currently stashed in a corner gathering dust.
4) Streetwear Highlighter (Price Rs 110..dont remember this exactly-also lost the bill :(): After the complete fiasco of the lip gloss comes this shimmer from Streetwear with a “Golden Lining”. This a great roll on shimmer-it is fine and bright golden dust which the roller uniformly distributes on skin. There were two shades available-silver and gold. I am really happy with this product. It can render an instantly glowing cheek, eyelids (with primer) or I guess one can roll it on shoulder blades-would look good with sleeveless or off shoulder dresses. The very blend-able and fine shimmer won’t give that disco-ball look (I learnt this word here in IMBB 🙂 ) and so far it didn’t break me out while using on cheek.
5) Elle 18 eye pencil (Price Rs 80): Being a through and through eye-makeup-person, I couldn’t afford to give this one a miss!! This is a newly launched thick eye liner pencil from Elle 18. There are 4 colors- fuchsia pink, deep blue, a pale white and this silvery ash. The pencil looks almost like a smaller lakme kajal stick and the product is very smooth and glides easily on eyelids. However these are not long staying and come off with just a swab of cotton. However-using an eye primer-I guess -can solve this problem. As for myself-since the time I have seen MAC greasepaint sticks tutorial by Rati over here-I always craved to have such a pigmented eye pencil to cover the lids for that wow smoky eye look-I am trying to create that effect with this one..an affordable version that is..hehe- and the silvery ash shade is just lovely!!!

Elle18 – use for MAC greasepaints – nice idea..and at Rs. 80…:D 😀 😀 Have you tried it already?
He he!! Mine skin oily too..so I usually use the Himalaya Neem Face wash and at times the Ponds white beauty..these works wonders..but I found the Lakme facewash to be drying..and leaves my skin stretchy :weep:

he he he…all products claim that!! even Lotus Ginseng fairness cream!! :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: :giggle: … Good that this product was released in India only. HAd it been in US, Lotus company might have got closed because of this particular product if someone had sued them after using it!! 😐 😐

Ya ..I just found the Elle 18 to be a real new kinda product..previously Lakme used to have such thick pencil shadows..but they have discontinued the product.. 🙄

Yupp..elle 18 has one truly sincerely dark and waterproof eyeliner around Rs 40 that will give any big brands a run for money!! Also their lippys are good too..I have purchased one of the shades 3 times so far coz its so beautiful :-))

hey anuradha, nice haul. happy durga pujo to everybody. me too have shopped a lot for looking ‘special’ in this pujo. i tested the elle 18 eye pencil,but didnt buy coz of its poor staying power.
