My Experience with Kevyn Aucoin Yanilena The Expert Lip Color:

Packaging:

I am not a big fan of the way these lipsticks are packaged. It is has a rectangular cap which closes over the tube by means of a magnetic force. I feel like the magnetic hold is too weak hence I don’t feel comfortable just throwing this lipstick in my purse as I feel it will open and create a catastrophe in my purse. The cap also attracts fingerprints. I feel Kevyn Aucoin could have done a much better job with the packaging.

Shade, Pigmentation & Texture:

The shade Yanilena is beautiful bright coral. It is one of those shades which is very spring-summer appropriate color as it just brightens up the face. It does not have any shimmer. The finish is very creamy and the application is very smooth on the lips and the lipstick glides on smooth as butter. No tug , no patchy uneven application. It does not settle in fine lines, does not accentuate dryness or chapped lips. 70-80% color deposits in 1 swipe. You definitely need 2 swipes to get full color.

The formula is neither too drying but it isn’t exactly hydrating. There is a certain amount of “slip” when the lips are rubbed together which is the result of the creaminess. It does not bleed outside the lip line.

Staying Power:

The color stays on the lips for 4-5 hours with minimal fading. The initial finish is creamy with a sheen but within 1-2 hours of wear, the finish turns satiny. It does transfer minimally on cups and glasses and you will need re-application after eating or snacking.

Fragrance:

It has a very nice fruity scent which feels nostalgic to me. To me, it smells exactly like that Poppins candy I used to eat, growing up in India.

Overall; I do like this lipstick for its shade and finish but I don’t think this is a must-have product. The color is easily dupe-able. The wear time is average and I am not so impressed with the packaging either. Some high end items are very unique and high quality that they make up for the high price tag. This is not one of those products unfortunately.

• Not too hydrating but not drying on the lips either.
• No sticky feeling on the lips.
• No detectable taste.
• Pleasant fragrance.

Cons of Kevyn Aucoin Yanilena The Expert Lip Color:

• Color is easily dupe-able, not unique enough.
• The cap does not attach very securely.
• Average staying power, nothing too outstanding.
