My Mini Makeup Shopping Spree in Mumbai
8 years back when I had first shifted to Pune, I had discovered a Health & Glow on MG Road, and was fascinated by the store. It had everything that a girl/lady/woman could be looking for or needed to beautify and maintain herself. But I was still in school and didn’t really have access to such stores 😛 Once I started college, the H&G store in Pune shut 🙁 and I was left with malls and mega stores for my cosmetics and make-up needs. A couple of months back my dad got transferred to Mumbai, India and since I have my job in Pune, I stayed back here. Just this previous weekend I had been to Mumbai to visit my parents and my sister and I went crazy shopping on the Colaba Causeway… While shopping on the Colaba streets I spotted a Health and Glow and I was ecstatic.
The Health and Glow store in Colaba is pretty small but then who cares? I needed a one stop shop for stuff and I was in one now 😉 This time I only shopped from Loreal, though next weekend I plan to visit the “Bi-Ju” counter there as well . 🙂
My tiny shopping haul is as follows:
I bought the following:
- Loreal Kohl Minerals Eyeliner: 03, Meteorite Blue
- Loreal Eyeshadow Trio: Azure Blonde
- Loreal Pencil Perfect Self Advancing Eyeliner
- Bare Essentials Make-up brush kit of 7
Now, I got the Eyeliner as a free gift on a purchase of any two products from Loreal and it’s actually worth Rs.550/- Yay yay yay!!! 😀
The shade of the Kohl Minerals Eyeliner is extremely electric and it has that shimmer, which isn’t too much and neither is it too less! I just so fell in love with it when the SA swatched it on my hand! And the applicator brush is sooooooo soft! I am yet to try it out. Honestly? I am yet to even open the seal! But I am opening it now to swatch it for you guys 🙂 After you let it set, it is pretty long lasting. The SA told me that it was even safe to use it on the water line 🙂
The Loreal Eyeshadow trio that I bought, the SA said was for achieving smokey eye look. Ok well I have got to try giving myself a smokey eye makeup now 😉 The swatches for the shades are here:
As you can see in the image, it has three shades… The midnight blue shade that it has is my fav!
The Pencil Perfect eyeliner seems to be very wow and very creamy and smooth. Will be trying it out now to see how long lasting it is 😉 One down side… Once you rotate it out you can’t rotate it back in! Can you imagine how inconvenient that could get! Well I guess that’s why it was a free gift 😉 But then I shouldn’t be so judgmental, after all I did finally get a free gift… 😀
Now for the Bare Essentials brushes… Honestly, I was looking for some affordable makeup brushes especially since I am still in a learning stage. So I had my eye on a set of 7 brushes by Vega that costs around Rs.325/-. But I got hold of these Bare Essential ones in H&G for Rs.275/- and so I jumped and bought them . 🙂 They seem to be of pretty decent quality and I am sure they’ll see me through for quite some time 😉

Push it in a little bit softly, make sure your finger is clean though, and then twist it again.

Lovely shopping, Suma. 🙂 I have used this brush kit and i was very disappointed. Except the blush brush I found the brushes very hard and stiff for eyes. Nothing to disappoint you buy just be careful using these. 🙂

Secondly 🙂 I had an opposite experience with the brushes 😛 The Blush Brush just kept shedding hair!!!!! hehehhe.. i guess i need to stop being cheap and start investing in some good standard brushes 😛

Hey Nivedita… The brushes are ok types… after all what could be expected of Rs275/- 😛
The blush brush sheds a lot of hair but i kinda liked the other brushes… Though i haven’t tried out other brands to compare this one with 😉
I love the look of that Kohl Eyeliner….nice haul 🙂

the mineral kohl is actually nice 🙂 i like it more because of the color 😉 but yeah you must either prime your eyes or at least dust your eyelids with soft powder before using the kohl if u have oily lids.. cause it does tend to smudge… 🙁 but with well primed eyes it doesnt 😀
