My Experience with Sugar Cosmetics Smudge Me Not Liquid Lipstick 01 Brazen Raisin:
Packaging: Love the way the Sugar cosmetics products are in boxes. It looks like something from the Prisma app. The liquid lipstick comes in a small clear bottle with a black cap. The applicator is suspended from the cap. It has a good applicator and helps in easy application, but it picks up a little more product than actually desired. The name and the number of the shade is mentioned on the bottle itself. Now the name of the shade is also mentioned on the outer box.
Shade: They have around 10 shades in this range and I find the shades very close to each other and mostly in the house of reds and browns. Brazen Raisin is a nice burgundy shade that would compliment all skin tones, and specially the Indian skin tone, but it has strong brown undertones as well, so if layered too much it will look more brown than burgundy. Brazen Raisin is an absolute matte shade with no glitters or glossiness.
Texture and Pigmentation: Liquid lipsticks are a major trend these days and I love how easy the application is and the outcome so beautiful. Now, the “Smudge Me Not” liquid lipsticks are very close to being liquid in texture. They are not watery liquid but liquid enough for easy application. It looks wet and bright while application but then settles to a complete matte once it is dry. It does not tug or pull actually while application, but I wish it was a little more smooth. Now, these do dry up quickly and the major problem I faced was that while application, it would dry out so quickly that if I made even the slightest mistake, then it would be a disaster. You just cannot correct it like other regular liquid lipsticks.
The pigmentation of “Brazen Raisin” is super duper strong and just a little product is required to cover the lips. One application is enough, but then, I also find this shade a little streaky and to get rid of it, you will need to apply a second coat. Although the liquid lipstick feels a little sticky during application, the sticky feeling does not last long. Now since it dries so quickly, you cannot rub your lips together as we generally do with others lipsticks as it makes it more patchy.
Layering does not feel heavy but the entire lipstick experience on my lips felt a bit strange like a foreign material being deposited on my lips. I felt my lips were covered with something that I could feel while talking, laughing, eating, drinking. Also, they make my lips super dry and so I apply a lip balm beneath which helps me to some extent. Do not ever forget to scrub your lips if you are going to use these liquid lipsticks. It will cling on the rough patches and make it even more evident. It settles into the fine lines of the lips.
Lasting Power: This liquid lipstick has taken its name “Smudge Me Not” way too seriously. They would just not smudge come what may! They stay put all day long. I tried using water-based makeup remover and it did not budge. I had to use oil-based one and then that too took some time to get rid of the stains. If you have heavy oily food, then it will start to get lighter from the middle of the lips.
I found it difficult to get perfectly lined lips with these liquid lipsticks and many a times, I make blunders. And if you are applying this lipstick after you have done your complete makeup and you make a mistake in application, then removing it is a pain. Also, I feel it has a slight powdery look.
