ELF Sunrise Radiance Enhancer Review

The company “ELF” continues to amaze me with its very affordable products and great quality. They have launched a skin care line recently and I am assuming that will be great too. I had earlier reviewed their ELF Baked Highlighter in Blush Gems. ELF seems to have formulated one of the cheapest but one of the best highlighters. Here I am reviewing their liquid highlighter in a pen form aka Radiance Enhancer in the shade “Surprise.”

ELF Sunrise Radiance Enhancer

Packaging:  The product comes in a thick black pen style packaging. For application, a brush tip has been provided. Twisting the other end of the pen dispenses the product. There is a translucent window provided to judge the color. Window doesn’t help that much though. Many high-end companies like YSL Touch Eclat, Ellis Faas, Mally beauty etc, use this type of packaging. The packaging is totally travel friendly. The cap closes with a click sound securely. There is no chance that the cap would come off and the product getting smeared in your purse. The brush tip applicator looks unhygienic. You can always use the back of your hand or a makeup palette to dispense the product and then use a synthetic blending brush to apply. The shade details are mentioned at the bottom of the cap. The amount of product by weight is .13 oz.

Price:
$3 (Approximately INR 180).

Texture:  The formula of the product is creamy and silky. It blends very easily, but too much blending may lead the product to disappear. The texture of the product comes out in a goop form. There are no chunky or cheap glitter or shimmer particles in it. You can build up by layering the product. The product seems to be very emollient. If applied on foundation, it has a tendency to move it. Although creamy, it does not have any sticky or icky feeling. On its site, it has been mentioned that it can be used under the eyes for brightness, but my suggestion is not to do that. There is far too much shimmery glow for an eye brightener. There is no fragrance to the product. It claims to have vitamin E and C in it for skin benefits. I cannot comment on that as I did not see any particular benefit. This highlighter can be mixed with foundation too if you need a glow. Good product for strobing technique.

Pigmentation: Compared to other shades of this radiance enhancer, this one is pretty pigmented. It seems to be a bronze shade with a lot of pink undertones. It gives a very natural pretty glow on skin too. The amount of product dispensed in one click is quite a lot. You can see that in the swatch photograph below.

It suits my skin shade very well, which is medium with beige undertones. In many reviews, it has been compared to its counterpart shimmering facial whip in lilac petal. I have used the shimmering facial whip and I felt there is a striking similarity in the shade but not the texture. Whip is stickier and more viscous than this enhancer. This radiance enhancer needs to be set with a powder due to its emollient properties.

Staying Power: It stays for about 3-4 hours on my skin after setting with a powder. If you have oily skin, then you should follow this step religiously. Since it blends very easily, it fades also very easily. Hence needs to be reapplied from time to time.

Would I Recommend ELF Sunrise Radiance Enhancer?
Yes, I would recommend it to everyone. Even though it needs reapplication every 4 hours, it is a splendid product within everyone’s budget. Availability can be an issue, but there are sites carrying ELF products and charging very nominal international shipping rates.
