Please solve this for me.
I have been looking for a good concealer, specially for my dark undereye circles. I have read and heard that concealer should be lighter than foundation. I use Mac NC37 Select foundation . Everytime I went to mac store, they told me concealer should be darker. I even ended up buying NC45. But it doesnt work too well specialy on cheek area or around nose. Please help. What should I buy or u think the darker color is fine? Is there some other good concealer i can try? I want to buy one next week for a friends wedding function.

I dont think you would be able to find a Kajal that doesnt smudge at all!! But Lotus is a good one
I am thinking Kajal that doesnt smudge would be like water that is not wet!!! You should check Rati’s video on how to wear Kajal and not look like a racoon…I tried it too yesterday and it works…errr..it did till I forgot I had tons of kajal on my eyes and rubbed rubbed…. :-(( :-((

I forgot…and you know that gloss does last longer than the glossimers, doesnt it..I had my khaana and still there was a bit of colour on…and I hadnt put it opaque in the first place…me super impressed..I got Emoi.
yeah it does, the pigment is stronger than glossimers no.

A darker shade of concealer cuts the green/ purple undertones of your under eye area. Sometimes what happens with lighter shade of concealer is that it it tunes grey making your under eye area look ashy. Now I prefer to use peachy concealer ( the NW range), it kind of warms up the under eye area and doesn’t make the concealer application obvious.
Now that you have NC 45 what you can do is that you apply the concealer first and then apply the foundation on top. So let’s say if you have a blemish, apply the concealer first and while applying foundation just ensure that you pat your foundation on the concealer rather than rubbing it. If your rub or swipe your brush on the concealer application, you would end up removing the concealer as well.
They have not given you the wrong shade of concealer , just that they forgot the fact that you are not a professional.
And for blemishes professionals especially do a spot concealing with a darker shade and then apply foundation on top. If still the blemish is visible they again apply a darker shade and conceal it.

Hm, this doesn’t work for me though – concealer with liquid foundation on top. My MAC Studio Fix fluid seems to wipe off the MAC Studio Sculpt concealer underneath so I do the reverse – foundation first then concealer.

for dark undereye circles choose a shade that is 1 shade lighter than your foundation. The undertone of the concealer depends on the color of your undereye circles. Peachy/Salmon works well with purplish undereye circles.

Rati is correct. Choose the NW option but 1 shade lighter than your foundation. Go to the store on a sunny day and try it in the store. Go shopping after that and notice how it looks after an hour or so. If you think it is not the right option, choose another shade :-) .
That is what I did :-D . If I am going to spend that kind of money, I would rather get a perfect match. Don’t trust the makeup artist there because they work on the artificial light. what seems to be a match in that light will not look good on the natural day light.

I used Eve Pearl’s Medium/Tan concealer duo and it conceals really well. It’s a duo and perfect for Indian skintones. It’s a bit pricey but really worth it since it’s really moisturizing and has a treatement built in.
Hey Jas,
The purpose of under eye concealer is to brighten up that area, not to enhance our dark circles, so whoever told you that concealer should be darker than your foundation… Well, they’re wrong.
Concealer should be one shade lighter than your foundation color for your under eye area. Then, you should have another one on hand for the rest of your face. The first reason being consistency (the different areas of your face require different consistencies in concealers to work best), and the second reason being that our faces are not one flat color and we shouldn’t try to make them one flat color.
MAC has so many great products, but concealer is not their forte. If you can get to a Bobbi Brown counter, try using their Corrector – this will neutralize the dark circles. Then, apply their Creamy Concealer over it. This will brighten your under eye area and make you look awake and energized (and ready to celebrate your friend’s wedding!). Top with a loose powder and you should be set for the whole night.
By the way, BB also has a great face concealer. The name escapes me, but it comes in a twist up tube. And I recommend them not only for the quality of their products, but also for their wide range of makeup shades for darker women like us.

Funny thing is, at MAC I asked them if the concealer shade should be lighter, and they gave me a wierd look like i was the lamest person. :-| Will check out NW shade. I agree with Radhika, I just wish we had BB here.
and for the kajal, i have used soo many, finally i feel Avon perfect wear stays longest with slight smudging only. I tried Bourjors Khol in brown after reading review here, it hardly smudged. I think i may have found a new love for it.
