Lakme #529 Enrich Satin Lipstick Review

Hope the day is treating you well. As for me, my obsession for lipsticks continues and today I have one more of them to review for you all. Today’s pick was more of an impulsive buy. I was watching some back to back episodes of F.R.I.E.N.D.S and I really liked Monica’s look in one of the episodes. She was sporting a chocolate brown lippie and I just had to have that. So, I went shopping and the moment I saw this shade, I picked it up only to realise later that it isn’t a very practical colour for daily wear. Nevertheless, moving on to the review!

My Experience with Lakme #529 Enrich Satin Lipstick:

The lipstick comes in the the age old Lakme packaging which is a maroon plastic case with a golden band between the cap and the lower part. The golden band has the brand logo printed on it. The golden band forms the golden tube inside which holds the bullet. The bullet also has the brand name engraved on it which I like. Overall, the packaging is sooopppperrrrr drab and not the kinds which you would want to flaunt publicly.

The shade #529 is a very tough one to carry and would not really be the apple of everyone’s eye. It is dark, bold, chocolate brown shade and is best suited for gothic looks or any other themed look. This shade, however, looks a little softer on the lips as compared to the swatches and in the bullet yet, it is a quite a tricky shade to pull off. The mere reason I bought it was because I really liked the way Monica sported it with her dark black/brown hair. It really brought out the colour in her eyes. After buying, I hardly wore the shade 5 – 6 times. This shade would, however, be a great pick for matured women and I would suggest teenagers to stay away from such browns as they have a tendency of adding years to even a young face.

Texture wise, these lipsticks, like we all know by now, feel really creamy and moisturising on the lips. There’s no need for a lipbalm underneath these and they really help in keeping the lips soft and supple. One good part about the lipstick is that, despite being so creamy, it doesn’t melt in the tube and nor does it have any chances of wobbling and breaking from the base. The lipsticks have a distinct artificially sweet fragrance to them, which I have heard many people complain about. It however, fades off with time which is a relief

In terms of pigmentation, I would like to say that they are pretty decently pigmented. They give good coverage to the lips in 1 swipe and in two swipes all the pigmentation on the lips is taken care. These do not emphasize the fine lines on the lips and give them a healthy look. In terms of staying power the lipstick is quite average. It stays for 2 – 2 ½ hours and starts fading. It completely disappears post a meal and reapplication becomes a must. Being a creamy lipstick it also has a tendency to transfer.

• Doesn’t highlight the fine lines on the lips
• Sturdy bullet which isn’t prone to breakage

Cons of Lakme #529 Enrich Satin Lipstick:

• Not a universally appealing shade
• Packaging is very drab
• Has a tendency to transfer
• Has an artificial fragrance which many may not like

Overall, Lakme #529 Enrich Satin is an average, affordable lipstick which would be a good pick for matured women. I wouldn’t call this a must-have shade as Lakme keeps coming up with such shades all the time and not everyone can carry off such bold shades.
