MAC has launched its MAC Nail Trend F/W 2010 Collection today. There are 6 nails paints in the collection. l-R Concubine, Imperial Flower, Earthly Harmony, Rocker, Ming Blue. A shade called Rain of Flowers from this collection hasn’t been launched here.

Mistress of the art of the sophisticated nail, Jin Soon was inspired this season by the sensual pleasures of Imperial China. A collection of hues in exotic and ravishing combinations, opaque and rich with pearl essences for a subtle dimension.
These nail paints had a thin texture. They applied on nail without any streaking. Most of these are on the sheer side. I had to apply at least 2 coats to see the real colour. These dries to semi mattish finish- not true matte nor shiny.
Jade Dragon : It’s a forest green nail paint with teal green shimmer. I found it quite pigmented. What you see on my nail is two coats.
Concubine : It’s a red nail paint with fuchsia red shimmer. I found it very sheer. Rocker and Concubine are quite close but I liked concubine teeny bit more.
Imperial Flower : It’s a true orange nail paint with yellow gold and orange shimmer. I found it quite sheer. The nail paint wasn’t completely opaque even after two coats. You’d be able to see my nail line through the polish in the photo below.
Earthly Harmony. This was my drool shade from the collection. 😉 It’s a dirty muddy earth nail polish with yellow golden shimmer. Two coats and it went completely opaque. Loved it. It reminded me of a Brown Bag nail paint from Pret-a-Papier Collection. I found no dupe for it in drugstore brands.
Rocker : It’s a fuchsia red nail paint. I had tough time swatching it. It was staining my nail with very coat. 🙁 It’s quite sheer even after two coats. This one had red shimmer.
Ming Blue : It’s a royal blue nail paint with turquoise shimmer. This one again was on the sheerer side.

there is a shade INTIMATE in colorbar…which comes close to earthly…but no shimmer

The colors loook awesome but the texture is tooo sheer and ucky – most def not worth it – even for a MAC junkie like me …
The other my friend asked me two things I would never buy from MAC – the first was a simple mascara for me and then I really struggled to think of a second ( I actually forgot they do nail paints) and most definitely I think these would be the second ….
Actually I have a few of these MAC Nail polishes – I use two coats with a base coat and they look very nice and dark. It’s like at first glance you just see the base colour but when you look closer you see the microglitter in it.
The texture means it takes a bit of time to apply, but that’s about it. The colours are beautiful though – especially Rain of Flowers which looks blackish-purple from one angle and eggplant from another angle.

Janhavi, these are not bad really. you have to see them in real. Infact they go on your nail easily without causing any bubbles or streaks. As firen mentioned a base coat would just do the job fine. and honestly these are pretty. There is no problem with the nail paints, seriously.
and you know I think these are made like these so that the shimmer could go on easily on your nails. A thicker texture wouldn’t spread the shimmer that easily.
Rocker looks different – Norway didn’t get it 🙁 And Earthly Harmony sold out in the US and in Norway like candy 🙂 I didn’t even get to touch it. I hear China Glaze Ingrid is very similar (I think you can buy it online for USD 2.99).
oh I really want to try China glaze nail paint but have not been able to find out an online store that sells china glaze. will check it out.
I think earthly harmony would sell like hot cakes anywhere. it’s a gorgeous shade. 🙂
