Hello IMBBians,
Essence has made its mark in the makeup industry – this brand has almost every beauty product under its umbrella. With new launches every other month, it is one brand that I always check out. Being a pocket-friendly brand, I can stock up a lot of things. Recently, I picked up a few new lipsticks from Essence and today, I am reviewing the shade “Lookin Good” from the Colour and Care range. Read on for more details.
Product Description:
Care for! This new lipstick unites intensive color and care. The texture contains avocado butter and leaves behind a beautiful, creamy finish in shades like apricot, rosewood or berry. Comes in a stylo packaging.
Price:
€2.59 for 1.9 gm.
My Experience with Essence Colour and Care Lookin’ Good Lipstick:
I moved over to lipsticks from tinted lip balms a long time ago. The lipsticks from Essence are comparatively cheaper and you can try a lot of shades without spending a lot. Considering the product was new, it was selling like hotcakes and I picked one to test.
The lipstick comes in a twist-up packaging. The case is made of plastic and the color of the case denotes the color of the lipstick inside. The cap fits nicely. However, with prolonged usage, it becomes a little loose. I have used it for approximately 2 weeks and I can clearly notice the difference. The lipstick is sleek and thin, it is then you realize that the lesser amount indicates lesser grams. There are 8 shades in this range to choose from, I picked two as I wanted pink lipsticks. This particular shade “Lookin Good” is a dark pinkish rose color. It has a beautiful subtle fragrance that stays till your lips are full with the lipstick. As the name suggests, the lipstick contains avocado butter and keeps the lips soft. I have seen that till the time the lipstick is on, I can be sure that the lips are nourished. I don’t have to reapply my lip balm.
The lipstick is easy to glide and feels very smooth. The color is shiny and more like a tinted lip balm. The difference between the lip balm and this lipstick is the pigmentation of the color. It is dark and one swipe gives you a strong color. There is no bleeding. However, the staying power disappoints. Without any food breaks, the lipstick lasts for around 3-4 hours. With eating and drinking, the lipstick fades away within 1 hour and with a full meal, it completely vanishes leaving slight hint of color behind. So, this is something I wouldn’t wear if I am going out for the entire day.
The lipstick is suitable for sensitive lips. I have dark lips and it easily camouflages pigmented lips. The lipstick is a good choice if you can touch up your lips every 2-3 hours or else this can be skipped!
Pros of Essence Colour and Care Lookin’ Good Lipstick:
- Good pigmentation.
- Moisturizes lips.
- Sleek packaging.
- Glides easily.
- Works well as a pigmented lip balm.
Cons of Essence Colour and Care Lookin’ Good Lipstick:
- Low staying power.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Essence Colour and Care Lookin’ Good Lipstick?
No! If you are looking for a moisturizing pigmented lip balm, then it is an affordable purchase.
