IMBB Sponsored Product Review
Hello Lovely Ladies,
How was your weekend? Mine ended up with one spoilt Estee Lauder Pure Color lipstick. My little chipmunk found his way into my stash and dipped his pretty little finger into the lipstick and then all over the makeup kit and his face. I saw him with color on his face and fingers, went to explore and found the lipstick lying on my vanity. As I opened it, my first reaction was – “OMG, it has not been photographed yet!!” LOL! Did I yell at him? No, not this time…I mean, what’s the point…isn’t the first time and won’t be the last! So soon, you will see a review of an EL lippy with some sad pics attached!
Taking a quick short break from my YSL collection, I bring to you a Guerlain Rouge G instead – another gift from Team IMBB. Having reviewed the Guerlain Rouge Gs in shade Gipsy and Girly earlier, I bring to you now another lovely shade – #70 Gigolo. It’s another gorgeous shade from my wishlist.
Lipstick is reinvented in an exceptional jewel with Rouge G, a subtle balance of intense colour and the comforting pleasure of a creamy lip balm. Behind this magical creation is an astounding formula: the unique combination of ruby powder for spectacular radiance, hyaluronic acid spheres for perfectly smoothed lips and wild mango butter for lasting hydration. Lips are intensely coloured, perfectly smoothed, moisturized and plumped up. For excessively perfect lips! A truly exceptional palette, lip glamour comes in 20 colourful shades as luxurious as they are radiant. Rouge G also comes in four Rouge G Le Brillant shades to dress lips in a luxurious scintillating effect. The light, delicate scent of a vanilla “floriental” leaves its incomparable mark on Rouge G de Guerlain. Top notes sparkle with a lemon, orange and bergamot accord. The rose and iris heart exudes sweetness. The vanilla and tonka bean dry-down gives Rouge G all of its intensity. A jewel lipstick compact with a white-gold shimmer designed by Lorenz Bäumer, the young and talented jeweler in Place Vendôme. A horizontal design with feminine curves that houses a secret: a mirror automatically appears when the compact is opened. The lipstick has a purely elegant, contemporary design and closes magnetically. This exceptional object boasts a comprehensive, premium formula containing a star ingredient: ruby powder, which acts as an optical whitener to bring out the color and shine of the shades. The blend of natural active ingredients (Tiger Grass, wild mango butter, Gugul resin used in Ayurvedic medicine) completes the formula to plump up, smooth and bring moisture and softness to your lips. Apply directly to the lips daily or, for a more sophisticated look, apply using a brush after outlining the lip contour with the Guerlain Lip Liner.
$49.50 in US / In India @ INR 2850 for 3.5 gm.
I have written sonnets on the packaging while reviewing Gipsy, so I will keep this one short. The packaging of this lipstick is iconic, it’s the most easily recognizable design. The white gold shimmer lipstick compact was designed for Guerlain by Lorenz Bäumer, the young and talented jeweler in Place Vendôme. This is most definitely the heaviest lipstick (apart form being one of the most expensive) in the market. Pictures do not do justice to the product, you have to hold a Rouge G in your hand to feel its full impact. The lipstick compact consists of a twin mirror and the lipstick bullet holds the folded mirror together with a magnetic closure.
My Experience with Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick – #70 Gigolo:
Color: The shade is described on the website as “burgundy wine.” It describes it perfectly – it’s a burgundy wine with just a hint of plum in it. It’s deep and dark – not a shade all would feel comfortable with, perfect for wintery day or an evening out. There is no shimmer but there is vibrancy in the colour.
Texture: The texture is lightweight and extremely creamy with iridescent shine. The lipstick is extremely smooth and hydrating. The hydration lasts for a couple of hours beyond its wear time. The formula is very comfortable to wear – one of the finest I have come across; you actually forget that you have lipstick on.
Pigmentation: It is extremely pigmented, about 95-100% colour deposit in a single swipe. There is no need to build up to the colour, one swipe gives you the colour in the tube. In the first swipe itself, it hides lip pigmentation effectively.
Lasting Power: This is what was more stunning than the pigmentation, the lasting power. The lipstick lasted about 7 hours + on me after that I did a light touch-up – mainly for the corners of my lips and I was good to go again. Meaning, even after 7 hours, the colour was intact, I am not talking of a stain here but the actual colour. I had to remove the whole thing with a makeup remover. It’s absolutely fabulous to have such lasting power with such comfortable texture and wear.
To sum this up for you:
Pros of Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick – #70 Gigolo:
- A beautiful vibrant color.
- Lightweight creamy texture.
- Excellent pigmentation, opaque in a single swipe.
- Extremely hydrating.
- Easy to apply from the tube.
- The lipstick applies smoothly – no tug or pull – far from it!
- Does not settle into the fine lines of the lips.
- No feathering or bleeding.
- Iconic luxe packaging.
- Stellar lasting power.
- Packaging is convenient for applying and touch-ups.
- Compact comes with a magnetic closure.
Cons of Guerlain Rouge G Lipstick – #70 Gigolo:
- You are paying a hefty price for the packaging, which is great for the first buy, but practical only if you get refills in the future.
- I have not included the ingredients photo because it’s a very light gold print on black background and doesn’t really show up in the pic. I can’t even see with squinting my eyes! I had a tough time reading the ingredient list for their foundation, I wanted to check if it contained alcohol. I don’t get the point – do you want to hide the ingredients list from the customers?
A definite5/5 product.
Is it a must-have shade? Is it must have from this range? Is the colour dupable? Is it worth it?
The colour is dupable but the whole package of “colour + texture + pigmentation + luxury” may not be dupable. It’s a stunning colour but not everyone’s cup of tea. From the colours I have already reviewed, if you had to pick only one colour, I would say pick Girly or Gipsy because they are more easily wearable than this.
But, in itself, this is totally worth the money, an awesome product!
