Invitation for Sunday Bazaar 12th, June, 2011, and Some Pointers!

chanel rouge allure
So my wifey bought her Chanel lipstick (the one shown in the picture) with the money she obtained by selling her things in the Sunday Bazaar. Well, I’m sure she would be showing it off in her future makeup tutorials. Right now I would like to invite all the IMBB readers to sell all their old makeup stuff, books, self-made products on IMBB Sunday Bazaar. We have had two successful Sunday Bazaar recently, and we already have some sellers for the next Sunday Bazaar to be held on 12th June, 2011. But I would like to press some more of our readers to open their drawers, flush out their old stuff and bring it on Sunday Bazaar for sale. Again, I’d like to remind that we would need the product details, scanned ID proofs, and entry charges to reach us by Thursday night. From our two Sunday Bazaar experiences, here are some pointers to make your products sell better-

1. Images: Take pains to shoot tempting images of the product. Take the snaps during the day and take clear swatches whereever necessary. Remember that attractive images and swatches would really help the buyers to make their decision.

2. Description: Note down all the good points about the product in bullet points and send them to us. If you don’t tell good things about your products who else will? Many sellers fail to stress the good points about a product. As I said in my earlier post, make your product look like a superstar.

3. Prices: Well, you can argue incessantly with me on this point but the sum of product price + shipping should be less than the actual price of the product by Rs. 30- 50. We Indians are highly price sensitive, and sometime the only reason we would buy a product online would be that we are getting it for cheap and with less hassles. If your sale price + shipping is comparable to the actual price why wouldn’t someone go and buy the product from the shop? Please fix the prices of your products wisely. Remember, since you are not using it anyway, it is of zero value to you.

4. Your Presence: Be present at the time of the sale. You’d not only be able to answer possible queries buyers might have but also push the buyers into buying your products just out of courtesy. At the end of the day, people are always nice to each other. And sometimes it’s all about relationships. And being present is a big part of your relationships, no? ๐Ÿ™‚

5. Product Usage: Right. Good image. Good description. Good price. Still the buyers won’t touch the product. Why? Because you forgot to mention how many times the product have been used! Don’t let doubt creep into the minds of your buyers. Tell them about the past usage of the product. Be honest. They should know what they are getting so that they don’t feel cheated when they receive the product.

6. Everything can fail: Well, it can all fail at the end of the day. Simply because the product is not needed by any of the buyers. You can offer tastiest of beef to a Vegan and he’d say no just because he doesn’t need it. Same can happen with your product. Hard luck. but hey, we will try selling your product again in the next Sunday Bazaar. ๐Ÿ™‚

That’s all people. Please do send in your entries for Sunday Bazaar, 12th June, 2011.

  3. Hey Rati ๐Ÿ™‚

I wanted 2 ask something. I’m good at doing photo editions n do for some around me for some bucks.
I can also send u some copies for u to see.. Can it be like something if pple like my editions, they send me their original pics n i edit for them n edition wud be done according to their choice ?:) :struggle:

    1. Hi Henna,

I don’t think professional photography / editing would be required here. it’s more important that the buyers are able to see the products in actual condition. Also, getting the photographs edited for a price would only reduce the petty cash that IMBB sellers are earning.

  11. Hi Rati/ Sanjeev,

Firstly, I must congratulate the two of you for coming up with this brilliant idea of an online bazaar!! I am interested in selling some handicraft items that I source regularly from various artisans, spread across India. I am based in Delhi, and would like to share the list of my products with their pictures of course, for the Sunday Bazaar. Let me know how to go about sending you the details of my products as I went thru the rules for sellers. Plus how can I pay for the fee being charged for hosting my products for 3 weeks, or can these be posted any longer, in case it still remains unsold!

    Cheers!
    Ritu ๐Ÿ˜
