  1. hi,Shaili…… :heh:
olive oil or coconut oil??? the answer depends upon the condition of your hair… if u are having dry, dull and shine-less hair ,then olive oil may be the better option as it will add shine and softness to your hair….and if you want to add some extra body to your thinning hair then coconut oil is the better option as it is known to thicken hair….. i myself use coconut oil as i have very thin hair and coconut oil somehow helps a bit..

try multani mitti packs on your hair… i have heard a lot about these and multani mitti effectively soaks excess oil…but be careful to apply the pack only on scalp and not on the entire length of your hair as you already have dry hair…

i have not used amway products so i cant help you to solve this query but yes,, one of my friends used to use their shampoos and she was not very much satisfied… πŸ™

    take care……….. :puchhi:

  2. and many people (with gorgeous hair, mind you) have recommended castor oil for growing thick strong hair..any opinions on that?

  3. thnx a lot medhavi n arja πŸ™‚ coconut oil will do for me
@arja- must say kate wz lookin a million bucks..n prince wz blushin all d way πŸ˜‰

  4. Shaili, maybe you can try mixing coconut oil and olive oil to get the benefits of both of them. As for hair packs, mix 2 tbsp olive oil with egg yolk and leave it on your hair for 20-30 mins and then wash it off. It acts as a nice conditioner for hair and helps in strengthening the hair.
    No idea abt Amway.
And consulting a derma for tanning is absolutely unnecessary. Whenever you are back home after a scorching day, apply aloe vera gel on your face and wash it after an hour. It acts as a nice after sun soothing gel. There are many DIY packs for remving tan. Simple ones would be to apply yoghurt everyday on your face and wash it off after half an hour. You can also add lime juice to the yoghurt to make a natural belach out of it.
Once in a week apply face packs to brighten the skin. usually I use pista powder, orange peel powder or multani mitti for the base. Either one will do. And for mixing it, I use honey, lime juice, rose water and curd or milk. Use curd if you have dry skin and milk if oily skinned.
This should help you in the long run to get rid of tan to some extent.

  5. maha, it shud be milk for dry skin and curd for oily skin na ?????
    i hav oily skin n i use oatmeal+curd+tomato juice 2 remove tan.
lime juice is also gud but doesn’t suit sensitive skin 😐

    1. Err.. actually curd has moisturising ability which milk doesn’t have. Even with face packs you can notice that with milk it abosrbs oil and curd it doesn’t. I have oily skin and I have noticed these differences πŸ™‚ So a moisturising one is obviously better for dry skin πŸ™‚
And I have sensitive skin too but lime works great on me πŸ™‚ It just depends on whether your skin in particular is sensitive to lime or not. For me honey and glycerine don’t work. So all sensitive skins needn’t be sensitive to the same thing πŸ™‚
And yes as you suggested tomato is great in removing tan πŸ™‚

  6. thanks maha :thanks: for those fab suggestions πŸ™‚
hmm mine is a combo skin..wil have to try out to see what suits me
    and aloevera πŸ™‚ i have loads of them in my garden…aloe u r on !! :jiggy1:

  7. hey i have to agree with maha about the wonders of curd for tanned skin, i find curd moisturising and i have oily skin. for your tanned skin , I reccomend some curd or butter milk applied in the evening and washed off. you can follow up the curd or butter milk with some scrub , say using citrus peel powder with honey. (honey will moisturise your skin well so you can use it without worrying about dryness)

i have exactly the same hair problem that you mentioned, oily scalp and dry hair ends. i use a mix of olive , coconut and castor oil. btw castor oil really works. do use it. also ensure that you apply oil on your hair ends, apply a little extra oil on them. use a hair dryer to ensure that your hair ends absorb the oil. also try warming up the oils before using them.

a magic hair pack i love to use is 1 or 2 eggs, with two teaspoons of milk, i massage this in my scalp (add curd to this if you have dandruff), then the remainder egg mixture i add 1/4 teaspoon of olive oil. it seems to work wonders for my hair. i agree this is time consuming. also after using this pack i do not use shampoo as i feel shampoo takes away the effectivity. i shampoo the next day. this is time consuming , and like with all egg packs , it take a lot of cold water to wash it off. but it is worth it.

also as medhavi mentioned multani works on the scalp, i use some shikekai water (hot boiling water added to shikekai powder) and multani mitti and make a paste for my scalp.

i have never used any thing by oriflame, largely because i always want to see makeup and buy it and start using it. waiting for things is too much for eggcited mind..

  8. thanks a lot supriya.. πŸ™‚ i was a bit adamant to try home remedies before..but now i guess mum is right sometimes..these tried n tested remedies do work..hope they do for me too

    love to all πŸ™‚
