Maybelline CR31 Watershine Pure Lipstick Review, Swatches

I’m here with the review of another lipstick from Maybelline’s Watershine range. The previous one that I reviewed from the same range was the lipstick in the shade number P12, which sadly turned out to be a dud. When I purchased that one, I also picked up another lipstick from the same Watershine range which I’m reviewing today. Read on to find out if Maybelline Watershine lipstick in CR31 is any better than the previous lipstick I mentioned.

My take on Maybelline CR31 Watershine Pure Lipstick:

Packaging: The packaging of Maybelline watershine lipsticks is quite similar to that of color show lipsticks, only these ones are metallic blue and color show lipsticks are black. The lipstick has a sticker at the bottom which denotes the shade number as well as color. It is a rather tiny and compact packaging. Overall, the packaging is fuss-free, simple, sturdy and travel friendly.

Shade:

This lipstick doesn’t have a name, only a number which says CR31. CR31 is a very glossy coral pink lipstick. On my extremely pigmented lips, this lipstick quite does the job of concealing the pigmentation. This is one such shade that I think will suit all skin tones, though it will really stand out on people with yellow undertoned skin. This is one of those shades that add an instant pop of color to the face. Overall, this is a really pretty glossy coral pink lipstick.

Texture and color payoff: the texture of this lipstick is almost buttery soft and it glides onto the lips very smoothly. It hides the pigmentation on my lips to a great extent. It does not accentuate fine lines on lips and this lipstick does not bleed. It feels very moisturizing on the lips and I usually don’t apply a lip balm when I’m wearing this lipstick because of its buttery soft texture. The pigmentation, I’d say is medium to solid because being such a bright color, mostly two coats are sufficient for getting that bright coral on the lips. Since this is a lipstick which is heavy on gloss, the staying power is not that great. It stays on me for around 3 hours and then I have to reapply.

Pros of Maybelline CR31 Watershine Pure Lipstick:

• Simple yet sturdy and travel-friendly packaging.
• Glides on to the lips very smoothly.
• This is one such shade that will suit all skin tones.
• Keeps the lips moisturized.
• People who like glossy lipsticks will love it.
• Has a decent color payoff.
• Hides the pigmentation on my lips to a great extent.
• Adds an instant pop of color to the face.

Cons of Maybelline CR31 Watershine Pure Lipstick:

• This lipstick is heavy on gloss.
• Staying power is poor.
• The lipstick does not have a name, only a weird shade number (though not really a con 😛 ).
• Not available in India.
• It does not hide the pigmentation on my lips.

Will I repurchase it/ do I recommend Maybelline CR31 Watershine Pure Lipstick?

I won’t repurchase this lipstick because there are better lipsticks out there. But I recommend it to people who prefer glossy lipsticks.
