Maybelline Watershine Lipstick P12 Review

Hi everybody!

I’m reviewing another lipstick today and this one is Maybelline Watershine lipstick in the shade P12. I know these lipsticks were once sold in India too but I got them on a vacation abroad, I spotted these Maybelline lipsticks and knew for a fact that these were not available in India, so without giving it much thought, I picked up two of these. Lets see how the shade P12 fared for me.

Product price: HKD 60 (approx INR 480, which I think is slightly expensive for a Maybelline lippie)

My take on Maybelline Watershine Lipstick- P12:

Packaging: Maybelline water shine lipsticks come in a packaging similar to that of the Maybelline color show lipsticks, only these ones are blue with kind of water-droplet effect. The packaging is fairly tiny and compact and travel-friendly too. The sticker at the bottom denotes the shade name and color. Overall, the packaging is decent and simple.

Shade: This lipstick doesn’t really have a name, only a number which says p12 (which is kind of annoying I think). P12 is a very glossy light pink lipstick. On my extremely pigmented lips, this lipstick looks like a clear gloss only (that too after layering at least 5-6 coats of this lipstick). This shade is mostly meant for people with pink lips and fair-medium skin tone. I really made a mistake by purchasing this lipstick as it proved to be a total dud, not only because it looks like a disaster on my pigmented lips but also because it so glossy that makes the outline of my lips look even more dark than usual.

Texture and color payoff: The texture of this lipstick is its only redeeming quality. Its super smooth to apply and the lips are moisturized by the lipstick alone, no need for a separate lip balm. Like the name and description suggest, this lipstick is infused with natural spring water droplets, hence the shine. It has so much of shine that it’s not an everyday wear lipstick. Though often, I like to layer it on my matte pink lipsticks to give it a little extra shine because wearing this lipstick alone is something I just don’t do (for obvious reasons stated above). The color payoff is, I’d say, poor. I have to layer at least 5-6 coats of this lipstick on my lips to get a color only remotely similar to that in the bullet. Because it is such a glossy lipstick, it doesn’t last for more than 2 hours on me.

Pros of Maybelline Watershine Lipstick- P12:

• Decent packaging.
• Glides on to the lips very smoothly.
• People with fair skin tone and pink lips should really check this lipstick out.
• People who prefer glossy lip products will love it.

Cons of Maybelline Watershine Lipstick- P12:

• Too much of glossiness in this lipstick.
• Stays on for barely two hours on me.
• The shade does not suit me.
• It does not hide the pigmentation on my lips
• I have to layer at least 5-6 coats of this lipstick to get a light pink color.
• Color payoff is below average.
• Wont suit people who have dusky complexion.
• Shade in the bullet is completely different from the shade this lipstick gives on thelips.

Will I repurchase it/ do I recommend Maybelline Watershine Lipsticks?

I won’t repurchase this lipstick. But I recommend it to people who prefer glossy lipsticks.

1.75/5

Conclusion on Maybelline Watershine Lipsticks:

A lipstick with a decent packaging and a super smooth texture. It is filled with glossiness and glides on smoothly on to the lips. But it stays on for barely two hours or so and comes with a poor pigmentation. You can easily skip this one!
