Ask IMBB Gang : Professional Makeover

Ask IMBB Gang

Shyna Asks

Next week here in Cochin, MaxFactor is offering a free  make-over by their makeup artists for their chosen customers, am so excited to get the invitation . I am really thrilled and just can’t wait to get it done. And this is my first make over by professionals, so can you give  some tips on what all  I can ask and learn from them?

  1. I think you should ask them what kind of colours (in terms of lipsticks, blushes, etc.) would look good as per your complexion. Generally we are not aware of the colours that look best on us. Might ask them this.

    1. ya, you are right, will definitely ask that for sure..i will go prepared with a notepad, pen n stuff …don want to miss out anything without being noted down.

  2. Hmmm…this is just my opinion. Sometimes we know what suits us best…don’t just let the makeup artist make you look like a Christmas tree with harsher makeup. If it doesn’t seem good to you, make sure you get it corrected.

Ok maybe this was just common sense which everybody already knows!!!

  3. Hi Shyna,

That is a really good chance and am happy for you. Congrats.

In my opinion you have to ask the following:

    1. Makeup starts with skin care. And a good makeup artist should be able to tell you what kind of products you would use beneath your makeup. For eg. oily skin – what kind of moisturizer and primers you could use to control them, and the same goes for very dry skin.
Using right skin care products and the right primer is more important for a long lasting beauty..

    2. The big question ofcourse – Foundation. People often make the mistake of choosing the wrong foundation in terms of colour and texture. Again depends on your skin type and your skin tone. There are foundations that oily skin people should definitely avoid. And when it comes to choosing foundation people often fail to realise the skin tone. Knowing your right skin tone & skin type is more important when you choose a foundation. Without this most people end up wearing a MASK.

    3. Your face shape. This is another important point because knowing your face shape will give you an idea of how to contour and highlight your face

    4. Learn the basic techniques of makeup application. Most of us do a mistake of not knowing the basic techniques of applying makeup. Wrong way of application with the right products will still yield wrong results. When you get the makeove rdone you have to pay attention on what kind of brushes they use and how they use. You cannot become an expert in just having one look at it but what am saying is you can definitely learn, practice back at your home and become an expert.

    5. I wouldnt worry much about asking them what colours of blush or lipsticks go well on you because its a personal choice. Meaning red colours go well on so many women, but most of the women dont prefer it because they think they would look like sluts. So although some colours will look nice on you, you may not like it so its more a personal choice in my opinion.

These are the five quick and important points i could think of now. Will write you more later if i think i forgot to tell you 🙂

  4. hmmm i feel u may already know what looks good on u
may be u can ask them questions on the same lines acc to ur taste
they may not have a similar taste like u
but have a blast shyna :-*

  5. My advice, more than anything, would be to trust your instincts! Don’t hesitate to question a MUA if you feel that your foundation is too light, blush is too shimmery etc! 😀

    1. Sure Ki am gonna do that..as such i prefer natural or the no-make up look.will tell that in advance so that they dont over-do things on my face!!

  6. Hey Shyna… MF is one of my most favourite brands…
    So enjoy the experience…

Also, you can ask them about exact shades of foundation and concealer to go wid ur skintone… And also get some tips for concealer and blush application…

I have seen most women complain about eye makeup application, but most women wear concealer and blush ridiculously wrong!!! You may share the tips here…

    1. Very good point Mrunmayee. Yes concealing is very important. Clean face +Tinted moisturizer + correct concealer + Translucent setting powder(could be optional) + curled eyes + Mascara & eye liner + lippie/lipgloss + quick brush of blush/highlighter is enough for a (natural) beautiful face.

    2. Thx Mrun, i know that you are a MF fan, have read your reviews…even i lik MF a lot, no wonder they sent me this invitation 😉 will share the tips for sure..
