Hi beautiful ladies,
Last winter, I went through a very poor phase with regards to my hair and skin. Being a mother to a two-year old is never easy. Especially when that 2-yr old has the energy of 2000. And never lets you sit. Besides, I went to Kolkata where the water was so hard, it made my hair and skin very rough and dry. My hair had become like straw with so much of build-up. My skin had also become very dry, rough and itchy. It was like I had become a vagabond who was constantly applying loads of cream and oil and still scratching her hair and skin like crazy. I realised part of the reason is due to my not so proper cleansing. Thankfully, my mom was in UK at that time. As soon as she heard my predicament, she immediately promised to buy me a few good cleansing stuff. My mom got for me three cleansing products for which I am eternally grateful to her. Mums are so wonderful, aren’t they???? Today I am reviewing the hair cleansing product which she got for me.
From the website: Hair cleansing shampoo that clarifies and works to remove copper, iron, hard water minerals and styling product build-up on all hair types. Formulated with fruit acids to add shine, purify and refresh hair. Our hair Cleansing shampoo was selected by our consumers as one of Redken’s best products.
How to use: Alternate with your regular shampoo. Apply to wet hair, massage into a lather. Rinse. Repeat if necessary. For excessive build-up, leave in 5-10 minutes and rinse.
Ingredients: Contains a high concentration of chelating agents that surround minerals, making them more soluble so they can be washed away. Formulated with fruit acids to add shine, it purifies and refreshes hair. Clarifies and works to remove copper, iron, hard water minerals and styling product build-up. Purifies, refreshes and leaves hair shiny.
Price: My mom never told me. But I found it to be 10 GBP for 300ml on international websites with free shipping.
My experience with the Redken Hair Cleansing Cream Shampoo :
Why, oh why can’t Indian companies make something so good and cheap and useful. For my product build-up, I found the Indian shampoos to be so ineffective. Anyways, back to this shampoo. The shampoo is white, creamy colour with a fragrance of mogra flowers. The bottle is made of thich plastic and it has a flip cap with a small hole in the centre to regulate the flow of shampoo. I have carried it with me on travel and it is extremely travel friendly.
I wet my hair thoroughly before applying the shampoo. A quarter size amount produces enough lather for my medium length hair. I then keep it on my hair for 5-10 min during which I do some pedicure. Then I rinse off my hair with water and my hair is left incredibly soft and clean. I usually follow this with my routine sulphate free shampoo and conditioner.
I will swear, I have never been so amazed and delighted with any shampoo so far. It is a very good clarifying shampoo which effectively does remove all my product build up and does not dry out my hair at all. The first time I used this, I could actually feel a load moving off my hair and going down the drain. It is a very gentle, cream based shampoo which leaves my hair so soft and shiny. It gently moisturises the hair while removing all product build up to leave a natural shine and bounce to the hair. My hair is oily at the roots and dry down the tresses…..but this shampoo really makes it all so uniformly clean without giving that squeaky, crunchy feel to hair which I really hate. It does not damage my hair nor does it increase hair fall. In fact, I have noticed my hair fall becoming less since my scalp is so clean now. No more is my scalp itchy nor my hair like straw. I am extremely pleased with the shampoo and it has indeed become a holy-grail cleansing shampoo for me. I use it once a fortnight to clean my hair. I have used it for about 7-8 washes till now and it has hardly made a dent in the bottle. This shampoo is going to last me a long long time.
