My Experience with YSL Fusion Ink Foundation
YSL Fusion Ink Foundation comes in a heavy frosted glass bottle. There is a golden cap with ‘YSL’ etched on it. And a twist cap cum wand is provided as an applicator for the foundation.
The texture of the foundation is super light. It’s pretty liquidy and you always have to shake the bottle before using it. The foundation tends to separate when left sitting for long at one place.
The coverage is light upon one application and slightly buildable when you apply another layer. But I’d still out it in a lightweight almost everyday wear kind of a foundation. Even if you are a lover of tinted moisturisers or BB creams, you would absolutely love it. This foundation has a thin consistency and feels almost nothing on the skin.
It is best applied with finger tips. You can use the brush but I always prefer using my fingertips for this one.
The staying power of this foundation is insane. I have normal to dry skin and it does not move even with a 12 hour wear.
The finish is pretty matte. So it’s good for people with oily skin as well. I did not like using much of it in winters because it was too matte for me. But since the weather has changed, I have been using it non stop since it does not move at all. And looks almost nothing on skin so makes it a great everyday pick.
It has SPF 15 that makes it great for day time wear. But it does not do well with flash photography at all. Infact sometimes I don’t like how it looks in regular photographs as well. But in day to day life even someone standing close to you won’t be able to tell that you are wearing anything on your skin. It’s more like a skin corrector but can be built up to a better coverage, if you prefer.
I kind of don’t like the applicator. One, the foundation gets all clumped up near the top of the bottle. Second I don’t like to dot the foundation on the face with the applicator for hygienic reasons. Having said that, considering the thin consistency of the foundation, a pump wouldn’t have been that effective as well. A sort of love-hate relationship but it’s workable. The petal shape of the applicator picks up the foundation pretty well from the bottle and you could pat it at the back of your hand and work it from there.
It does have a slightly alcoholic smell to it. Not a fan but it does not stay on once you apply it.
The shade I wear is B40 Sand. For reference I am NC35 in MAC foundation. And this is a pretty close match to my skin tone.
Not my favourite foundation for winters because it makes my skin look super matte. But for summers, I am so obsessed with this one. 🙂 The staying power is incredible even in these hot days and I barely have to use powder for touch ups all day long.
