Za Cosmetics Plumper Lips Lipstick – 08 Ruby Rich

Za Cosmetics Plumper Lips Lipstick – 08 Ruby Rich

Za (pronounced zee-ei) Cosmetics is a Japanese brand and is a subsidiary of a company we’re more familiar with-Shiseido. Za has a line of makeup and skin care, with drugstore prices…kind of. Their Plumper Lips Lipstick has been my most used lipstick in the last 3 months or so.It’s one of my current favorite products.

Product claim, from the Za website:
Gives your lips perfect clarity and depth.”Fill-up collagen” replenishes your lips with rich moisture while “Plump-up pearl”, with its light-diffusing effect, makes your lips look incredibly plump and smooth.

Around 10 USD

The packaging of the Za Plumper Lips is quite simple. I find it pretty because of the pinkish silver color of the tube…it gives the packaging a somewhat delicate look. The cap of it is monogrammed with the Za logo. It came with a plastic box with the ingredients list and all, but I already discarded it.

This lipstick has a creamy texture. I nicked it thrice while taking photos of it and due to the softness of it a lot of product came away from the tube! But that’s what I like about it. Lipsticks with moisture to them, and a smooth, soft, almost balm-like quality—that’s my kind of lipstick.I’m drawn to these because my lips tend to be dry (though I use mattes too). Anyway that’s how I’d describe the feel of the Za Plumper Lips. It glides real easy on the lips. No tugging.

It also moisturizes my lips. I haven’t found a lot of lipsticks that actually moisturize, but this does. Not as much a lip balm, of course, but my lips don’t feel dry at all and have a soft feel after wearing the Plumper Lips lipstick. It’s pigmented that you get a lot of color in one swipe, but it doesn’t give intense or bright color. The shades of the Za Plumper Lips are mostly understated; they seem to be meant for a natural-looking finish.

08 Ruby Rich is a medium, pinky red color. In the tube it has fine shimmer particles, but once on the lips the shimmer isn’t visible. This color is a little more red than I would wear for daytime, but it’s easy to wear and livens up the face, without being garish. The finish has some shine to it. For me it doesn’t really give a plumping effect, but it does make the lips look smoother and healthier.
The only drawback to it is the wear time. Because of its moisture and slip it fades after about three hours. It doesn’t dry patchy and after I reapply it, it looks relatively even.

Would I repurchase Za Cosmetics Plumper Lips Lipstick – 08 Ruby Rich ?

Yes. I’d also like to try the other shades.

IMBB rating: 4.5/5

This is the first Za product I’ve tried, and so far, I’m encouraged to try more.It applies and glides on the lips smoothly and leaves them soft instead of dried up. Ruby Rich is pigmented, and very wearable. Though I don’t find that it gives any sort plumping effect to the lips, it does make them look hydrated, softer, and generally healthier. Try this product if you avoid drying lipsticks and are looking for ones with moisturizing formulas.

    1. Sumera, that’s true. The color of the bullet here looks a touch more red than it does in actual- perhaps due to the lighting. In person it’s a pink-red shade, but it really does translate more pink on my lips. 🙂
