1. Choose a Foundation Meant for Dry Skin:
Look out for words like hydrating, moisturizing and specially meant for dry skin. Waterproof moisturizers can suck the little moisture that you have in your skin. So, use foundation that is meant to be used on dry skin.
2. Don’t Use Your Fingers:
If your skin is really dry, then it will get difficult for you to get smoother finish with your makeup. You can use synthetic hair brushes and damp beauty sponges to apply your makeup properly.
3. Stay Away From Powder Anything:
This is a no brainer. Powder based products like foundation, compact, or even blush will absorb moisture and make your skin appear even dryer. If you must use powder on your face, then use it sparingly to set your makeup on required places.
4. Master Your Glow:
Dry skin can look dull and lifeless. Try to use liquid based products that claim to give you dewy skin. Also, a sheer bronzer that is light reflective can help to warm up your skin and can also give you a healthy glow.
5. Avoid Tinted Moisturizer:
With tinted moisturizer, you will be getting half coverage and half moisturization only so, don’t just rely on tinted moisturizers if you have dry skin. If you must use tinted moisturizers, then don’t forget to use your normal moisturizer and then top it off with a tinted one!

Dry skin lacks that natural sheen and colour on the cheeks. Well, you can do that by using a rosy blush that will make your cheeks look like they are naturally blushing. Use a creamy formula and you can also top it off and blend the color with a clean powder brush.
7. Layer your moisturizers:
You can get a better makeup application by layering your moisturizers. First, use a creamy moisturizer and then use a good facial oil or hydrating serum. After doing this, you can get on with the usual steps of primer and preparing your base makeup.
8. Add some sheen:
You can get that gleaming and glowy skin with the touch of a highlighter. Dab it high on cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose and lightly across the forehead and blend to get an overall healthy glow on your face.
9. Choose the right lip formula:
You may be in love with matte formulas but mattes are not really best friends with dry lips. So, you can always go for creamy lipsticks and clear glosses. If you love your mattes then don’t forget to exfoliate, moisturize and prep your lips before applying matte lippies.
10. A hydrating toner:
If you feel that your makeup has started to flake off during the day, then you can always keep a travel-sized hydrating toner with you. It will help to bring back the lost moisture from your face.
11. Use a light weight concealer:
A heavier formula will suck the moisture from your under eye area. Use a light weight liquid concealer or you can also add 1-2 drops of facial oil to your concealer and then use it on your face.
12. Choose Liquid Eyeliner:
Eye pencils or powders can easily flake and make fine lines or wrinkles stand out on dry skin. Applying liquid eyeliner can help to lift your dull looking eyes and will make them stand out more.
13. Use a primer:
No, a primer is just not meant to control excess oil production on your face. There are different primers for different skin types. Use a hydrating and moisturizing formula to achieve a flawless makeup base.
