Boots No7 Airbrush Away Primer Review

Hi everyone,

It has been so long since I’ve posted a review and that’s because I have been so busy recently! I hope to start posting more regularly now though. Today, I will be reviewing a product from one of my favourite brands, No7, and it’s the Airbrush Away Primer. I got this full sized version as part of a set of other No7 products, but you can purchase it on its own from stores. To hear my thoughts on this product, please read on further.

Product Description:

£16.50 (30 ml).

My Take on Boots No7 Airbrush Away Primer:

The primer comes in a squeeze tube, which makes it easy to use and is also travel friendly. The name of the product has been changed slightly this year, with the addition of the words ‘Instant illusions’, however the product is the same. I purchased this product a while ago and that is why my product is in older packaging.

One thing I dislike about this product is the strong smell. It is very heavily fragranced and this could be problematic for more sensitive skin; it smells quite sweet and floral. This primer has been designed for more mature skin I believe as it focuses on diminishing signs of fine lines and wrinkles, but since I don’t have mature skin, that is something I cannot attest to. However, this product does claim to put ‘uneven skin tone and pores into soft focus’ and I’m not entirely sure what that means! It definitely doesn’t affect my uneven skin tone, so I think that’s just an exaggerated claim of the product.

This primer is silicone based, so it does leave the skin feeling smoother upon application. The texture of the product is quite slippery but light and it applies on easily. Since the texture is light, I find that it doesn’t clog pores or make my skin breakout, which some other primers can do. The product itself is white and opaque but it blends into the skin effortlessly. The primer also has light diffusing particles, which you can see by the slight shimmer in it. However, it is very subtle and doesn’t make your skin appear shimmery, which is the last thing you want from a primer.

I do think this product is quite expensive for the amount you are getting; however, only a small amount of primer is required for the entire face, so it does mean that it will last you a while. It helps to keep foundation on longer but I’ve found that it isn’t great for my oily skin and doesn’t keep the shine at bay, as by the end of the day, I look like an oily mess! Therefore, it definitely doesn’t give an ‘air-brushed’ appearance for the whole day.

Pros of Boots No7 Airbrush Away Primer:

  • Blends into the skin easily.
  • Only a little amount of product is required for the full face.
  • Light texture.
  • Travel friendly.

Cons of Boots No7 Airbrush Away Primer:

  • Heavily scented.
  • Quite expensive.
  • Small amount of product in tube.

IMBB Rating:
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Boots No7 Airbrush Away Primer?
No. I don’t think this product is awful but it didn’t greatly impress me either. It is also quite expensive and I think you can definitely get better primers from the drugstore. However, this primer has been designed for more mature skin, so perhaps I’m not the target audience for this primer and people with more mature skin may love this primer more than I did. Speaking from experience though, I wouldn’t recommend this primer for girls with oily skin as it doesn’t help keep your skin matte all day long. I hope to be back soon with another review, thanks for reading!
