Today, I’ll share my two cents about a sunscreen that I have come to love.

Sunscreens are a must and fundamental to skincare. I have been on the lookout for a decent sunscreen that does not irritate my sensitive skin. I have combination skin and even though I never had acne earlier, suddenly my skin had flared up. No matter how many reputed brands I used, the problem only got worse.

Then I came across his Very Emollient sunscreen by Alba Botanica .Since I was using other products from this brand, and it was not pricey, I thought to give it a try.

Let’s see how this sunscreen fared for me.

Price: Rs 900 for 113gm.

Brand Claims: This very emollient and botanically moisturizing sunscreen provides broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection as defined by the FDA. Made with preferred sunscreen ingredients, this lotion is very water resistant (80 minutes), Parabens free and fragrance free. Powerful antioxidant rich Green Tea and Vitamin E nourish skin while Aloe Vera and Chamomile moisturize and smooth. Biodegradable and gluten free formula.

Directions for Use: Apply liberally 15 minutes before sun exposure. Reapply after 80 minutes of swimming or sweating, immediately after towel drying and at least every 2 hours. Children under 6 months: ask a doctor.

My take on Alba Botanica Very Emollient Sunscreen SPF 30:

This sunscreen has a thick creamy texture. The texture is such that it will suit dry-normal skinned beauties. Since I have a combination skin I mix it with Lacto calamine lotion…and it works perfectly.

This sunscreen is a natural mineral sunscreen. Now we all know that mineral sunscreens are the best for skin protection, but have a huge disadvantage that they leave a whitish cast. This too leaves a whitish cast, in fact since I use it in conjunction with lacto calamine…the effect is even more…ugh…pronounced. But thankfully, it gets absorbed within 5 minutes, leaving my skin hydrated but with a matte finish. Actually, a little goes a long way…so I guess this tube will last me at least 2-2.5 months. 😀 *pompom*

Now, I am the kinds who don’t like to carry an umbrella when out in the sun…Shamelessly lazy I am: P Thankfully, with SPF 30 ,this genie has totally protected me from tanning! (Touchwood ) Another plus point is that my sensitive skin does not feel itchy or irritated with this sunscreen. Which is very important, as my skin just flares up when I take any panga with it. *head bang*

I have combination skin and it has worked well with lacto calamine for me. I feel it might be a bit heavy for those with oily skin though.

I like the fact that it is free of Parabens and other harmful chemicals and has a very decent anti oxidant content. It does not cause any sweat or stickiness. This product is water proof too…so another yay for it!!
One thing though..I don’t use foundation so really don’t know how suitable it will be as a base for makeup. The sunscreen has a sturdy tube packaging so that’s a definite plus for me. It is not only hygienic but also easy to carry around. Basically it’s a nice product, that does its job well and does not aggravate your skin problems.

Would I recommend? Yes definitely, it’s a decent product. I am actually liking this brand very very much ;): D
