I am to attend a party indoors at night, I use revlon colorstay foundation which in flash photography shows my face ghastly white.I have been told it is due to the spf in the foundation. Please suggest me a good foundation which looks good in photos.(I have a oily skin.)

You could try a mineral foundation – powder – if you don’t have any major blemishes to conceal.

As of now I can think of MAC Studio Fix Fluid and Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse Foundation.

I would have suggested Maxfactor Age renew, it photographs like a dream… Gives a natural glow..

But as you have oily skin, ou’ll do better to use powder foundations..
But if you need medium-full coverage, use a cream foundation like Age renew and layer a blotting/matte finish powder on top..

If you blend well, it will never look cakey..

Hope it helps.

Also- rubbing an ice-cube on your face before you apply makeup, closes pores and reduces oil secretion.

I will suggest maybelline dream matte powder .. it does keep oil at bay and for foundation .. Studio Fix is good .. using it since few days and loving it :)
N do not forget to keep some blotting sheets and powder for quick touch ups
P.S – I also have oily skin :D .-= Palak´s last blog ..Make up in monsoons =-.

I did through correspondence. Fell in love with literature then. Oh my! I read so many novels during that time but I did miss the typical DU college fun. I studied in a private college because my dad was a bit against me studying in proper Delhi University college. Had my kind of a fun but can imagine the crazy DU thingy…used to visit north campus a lot.

oh another thing, go a little heavier on makeup especially for cheeks and lips. Flash photographs bleach out the colours from your face.

Very good question-well i feel the white cast on face especially in snaps could be due to choosing the wrong shade of foundation-for eg if your skin has yellow undertones and you choose foundation suited for pink undertones the snaps would clearly show like you wear a white mask!i really doubt if spf is the real culprit, i dont think so…most imp thing is you choose the right kind of foundation and blend it properly!!i personally feel cream foundation is not suited for very oily skin, or else you should be careful eough to do frequent touch-ups.

Ive been struggling to find a foundation for my oily skin with no luck.I was thinking about trying Revlon Color stay.It has been getting rave reviews and matched my skin tone to the T.But have no idea about how it photographs. As far as blotting and powdering goes it’s a big pain I’d love to have something that stays for a good 5-6 hours straight without touch-ups.

how bout mac select spf 15

Rati August 25, 2010 at 11:48 pm

Mixed reviews but it’s a water based foundation so it would be good for oily skin.

If you are using liquid foundation, you shd use an oil-free foundation or a matte-finish foundation. You should dab on a light to medium coverage powder over this foundation. I like Revlon Colorstay Mineral Mousse foundation, followed by Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse powder. If you are only using powder, then you shd go for a full coverage powder foundation, like MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation. Also, The Body Shop All in One Face Base is good for oily skin, it’s also a powder foundation. Keep oil blotters at hand, and just before the photos are taken, use one or two of these. Hope this helps.

No Jas, it wouldn’t. It is an oil based foundation.

I have combi-oily skin and these are the foundations I have tried that works very well with my skin and helps keep oil at bay.

- MAC Studio Fix Foundation
- Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay in Place Makeup (my face looked flawless and oil free for hours! Stayed in place for 10 hours and I needed to blot just once)
- Shiseido foundations
:-))
