Coastal Scents Hot Pot 18 Karat Gold Review

Hi IMBBians!

Coastal+Scents+Hot+Pot+18+Karat+Gold+Review

I am completely in love with Coastal Scents because their eyeshadows and blushes are just amazing. Out of all the Coastal Scents things I have tried, for me the Hot Pots are the best.  I have tried 14 different colors and I am yet to find a fault with them.  This particular color is a perfect gold color. When I think of the gold associated with Indian weddings and festivals, this is the exact shade of gold I imagine. Coastal Scents describe this color with the words “Let your eyes shine with this glistening gold hue.” They have so aptly named it 18 Karat Gold.

With Flash on the left; without on the right.

My Experience with Coastal Scents Hot Pot 18 Karat Gold:

There is nothing subtle about this color. It is a complete party/festival color. Every girl needs such a gold in her kitty. Whether it is the wedding season or you just want to jazz up a look, look no further than this gold. As described, it a metallic shimmer, with changing angles of light, the color really sparkles. Just by looking at it, I feel like if I swatch it, there will be glitter fallout from this shimmery color, but that is not the case at all. The color is surprisingly creamy or very smooth, with as much or little fall out as any other metallic shade. There are no glittery specks in this color, it is just the characteristic of its metallic shine that gives a glittery illusion. The flash brings out the yellowness in the color more.

Gold Eyeshadow 4

I did not see any major fading or creasing with this color, a primer would definitely help ensure it stays longer but for my normal lids I don’t feel the need of any primer. It does stay on till you decide to take it off.

With flash on the top, without on the bottom.

Gold Eyeshadow 5

Whether you use a primer or not, it shows up exactly the same. It is semi – opaque, but still very pigmented. Like in the swatch below, the right most is the color blended out, the veins are still visible underneath it, but the gold and its shine shows up very well too. The left most is without a primer and the middle is with a primer (ELF Mineral Eyeshadow Primer).

Pros of Coastal Scents Hot Pot 18 Karat Gold:

  • A beautiful, perfect gold color.
  • Very well pigmented, even for a semi – opaque color.
  • Shows up truly with or without a primer.
  • Stays on till you want to remove the color (on my normal lids, without primer, oily lids can use primer to increase staying power).
  • Does not have any major fall out.
  • Although it is a shimmery color, it does not have chunks of shimmer in it.
  • The effect of its metallic shimmer is beautiful.
  • Will show up very well on every Indian skin color.
  • Inexpensive.

Cons of Coastal Scents Hot Pot 18 Karat Gold:

  • It is inexpensive, but considering the shipping rates, not advisable to purchase alone.
  • Available only online.
  • Not a daily use color.

In the following image I have this gold color on the inner 1/3rd of the eye.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5, overall deducting because of the cons mentioned, otherwise as a product judged solely on its claims, it deserves a 5/5!

Will I Repurchase/Do I Recommend Coastal Scents Hot Pot 18 Karat Gold?

I don’t use the word “perfect” lightly, but this is a perfect festive gold color. I don’t use this often, but almost always use this when I want a gold color for a party look. So, I’m sure this will last me a long time. I have many shades of gold in my collection in 88 palettes or 120 palettes or so, but none are a dupe for this, so yes I may end up repurchasing it if I can’t find a dupe. I strongly recommend it to anybody who is looking for a “dhinchak” gold color!

I hope this helped you all and until next time Happy Makeuping!
