Essence Kajal in 04 White Review

Essence Kajal in 04 White

Hello girls!

I was having an internal debate on whether to buy the Lakme Iconic Kajal in White or not. Surely I wanted to try white kajal, but I wasn’t sure on spending 250 bucks on the Lakme one. So while I was busy purchasing Essence goodies from the counter, I saw this kajal. And this was definitely cheaper than Lakme, also the S.A gave me a discount on this kajal, so I went ahead with my purchase. Let’s get to how it fared for me.

Price: 129 INR.

Packaging: Essence kajals come in wooden pencil form, the same colour as the kajal. It has a silver cap and the details are also in silver so it makes the kajal look very sofisticated. White on silver does make a good combo. The cap fits nicely. It’s very handy and sleek so definitely travel friendly. Also, after reading Kadambari’s article on kajal in pencil form, I don’t mind a little product wastage if I get rid of all the germs and what not by sharpening the tip! 🙂

My Experience With Essence Kajal in 04 White:

Colour & Pigmentation: The colour is pure white. Kind of milky white, but I like it. And it is nicely pigmented. One swipe deposits as much as 90% of the colour, a plus. For opaque white, 2 swatches are enough. I love the pigmentation so much! For this cost, I think the pigmentation is so worth the money!

Texture: This kajal has the smoothest textures of all the kajals that I own. It’s so smooth and silky. Glides on easily without tugging or pulling. Even on my waterline, it glides like a dream! The kajal is so creamy, that sometimes it melts in hot weather and it does crumble just a little bit, if more pressure is applied to the tip and that’s why I keep it in the refrigerator.

Staying Power: It pretty much stays put on the waterline. It doesn’t budge. It can be smudged with a little black kajal to make a grayish looking kajal. The staying power is maximum 4 hours with a little fading. I can forgive that fact though! 😀

Smell: The woody fragrance from the wooden body, apart from that nothing! 🙂

Usage: I’d use it on my waterline for that innocent look, and smudge it a little bit so it’s not too white. I’d also use it as a white base for colourful eye shadows or to make them pop even more.
