I’m back to reviewing stuff that I’d got a few weeks ago. I bought 3 Jordana lipsticks from their ‘Matte’ collection, thinking they were really matte. Let’s see how they fared.

My Experience with Jordana 01 Be Bold Matte Lipstick:
Packaging:
This lipstick comes in a silver bullet. I don’t like the packaging. Just looking at it, it feels so flimsy and cheap. It has a transparent cover with a sticker to tell you the shade name etc. The sticker at the bottom serves the same purpose as well. The S.A. did not allow me to swatch any of these lipsticks, so I picked them up just by seeing the shade through the dull cover. The cover shuts with a click and isn’t that strong.
Color/Pigmentation:
Did someone say ‘matte’? Or, was it wrongly packaged? I’m sure there’s a huge discrepancy about it. This is an orangey-red shade with golden shimmers running throughout! I’m sure such lipsticks are known as ‘Frosty’ ones! I just don’t understand that who wears frosty lipsticks nowadays? Why do cosmetic companies still make shimmery lipsticks? I like the shade, but sans the shimmer which makes it a typical Mom-shade; you know, lipsticks that are normally worn by older ladies? How can I can’t wear this shade and not look like some aunty? Only older women can pull this shade off nicely. The pigmentation is good, you need 2-3 swipes to cover your lips.
Texture:
Despite being a ‘frosty’ lipstick, it has a consistency similar to a lip balm. But, mind you, these lipsticks are very drying on the lips. They don’t feel gritty on the lips though. They are soft and a bit creamy, but after 5 minutes, your lips start feeling dry. When you take off the lipstick, the shimmers are all over your lips. Major dud!
Staying Power:
It doesn’t stay much on my lips. I’ve only worn it for testing purpose and kept it away since then. It stayed on for 3-4 hours with all the talking, eating and drinking. It fades with a meal, but the shimmers stay.
Summing up the pros and cons,
Pros of Jordana 01 Be Bold Matte Lipstick:
• Nice orangey-red shade (without the shimmer)
• Inexpensive
• Typical Indian red shade
Cons of Jordana 01 Be Bold Matte Lipstick:
• Golden red shimmery lipstick!
• Doesn’t even come close to being called a ‘matte’!
• Not for girls of my age group (younger than 25 years of age. I’m 21 btw! 😛 )
• Dislike the packaging
• Super drying
• Low staying power
• Basically, the entire lipstick is a con for me

Verdict:
Such a huge disappointment! Imagine buying a chocolate ice cream with all the toppings and everything and getting a plain old vanilla one instead. Yeah, that’s exactly how I felt when I swatched it, or may be worse. 🙁
