Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil.

Urban Decay glide on pencils have been getting all the hype in the world sine the time they have been launched icon smile Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Zero Review .They have a wide variety of colours to choose from, plus most of them  are vegan too  . I got mine in a shade called zero which is vegan – its pure matte black with no glitter/shimmer.

What does Urban Decay say?

Urban Decay 24 7 pencil

24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil

The best Eye Pencil ever, ever, ever! Never before has a pencil this creamy and brilliant been waterproof, too. Velvety-soft, this never-before-seen formula stays soft and creamy for blending (about 30 seconds), then dries down to a long-lasting finish that WILL NOT budge. Line eyes with a hint of color or go for the full artistic, multi-hued effect with the wide selection of lush tropical hues, deep metallics and unusually vibrant neutrals. Incredible with Urban Decay Eyeshadows!

Created with 50% moisturizing ingredients suspended in a sophisticated waterproof formula, 24/7 Eye Pencils offer long-lasting color and a dreamy, creamy feel when applied. With Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Cottonseed Oil.

Tips: 24/7 Eye Pencils are ideal for lining inner lids because the waterproof formula stays put. Just apply, try not to blink for a sec, and you’ve got immovable liner.

Fill Weight:
1.2g e 0.04 US oz.

Price:
$17 . I know it’s a bit steep for an eyeliner and hey it’s costlier than MAC, but these are vegan and the formula is amazing. Hence, the price tag .

Ingredients:
The ingredients vary by color.Since I am reviewing the black one –it’s called zero, I will list the ingredients for that.
Cyclopentasiloxane, C11-12 Isoparaffin, Paraffin, Polybutene, Buxus Chinensis, Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil, Ceresin, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax), Tocopherol, Ascorbyl Palmitate, Phenoxyethanol

What I think about Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on pencils.
I have tried a lot of long stay pencils and liners. Truckloads of them. And I have been allergic to most of them! They either make my eyes water or sting like mad.

Since this was paraben free and also had a vegan formula, I decided to try this. Plus all the world’s hype about this pencil made me grab mine at Sephora .

These are nicely pigmented and go on so so smoothly. Keeps up to the name of glide on pencils. They really do glide on uber smoothly. It’s waterline safe too! I don’t have to tug, pull every time I apply. The best part? It doesn’t sting my eyes at all.

But, the only gripe is that it’s not so very pigmented compared to our Kajal. I will show you a comparison pic of this and the lotus Kajal.

The colour is a soft black, not jet black icon sad Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Zero Review . But it does come with so many other benefits such as waterproof, smudge proof and the formula is to die for.
A look at the pencil.

Urban Decay Zero Pencil Swatch

It’s a black pencil with a silver cap. The tip of the pencil is somewhat different from the conventional pencils. But then, of late, I have seen many companies coming up with pencils like this.
Initially, when I got this, I thought sharpening would be a problem, but no! I have sharpened it many times now with my Lakme sharpener itself and it works fine. No breakage of tip or wastage of product! Yaay for that . icon smile Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Zero Review )

How to apply this?
Make sure the tip is pointed enough if you want to apply it on the upper lash line. Since this is really creamy the tip wears out pretty fast and sharpening becomes mandatory.  I glide this on my lower/upper waterline and lash line and I am all set for the whole day.

I won’t say it’s totally smudge proof, it does take time to set, but once it’s set it will not melt away or smear all over the place even in hot weathers . This one definitely needs an oil based eye makeup remover to take it off.
I have oily lids and my eyes water pretty much, so no eyeliner stays on my waterline for more than 2-3 hours and this one starts to fade a little after about 5 hours, but it may last longer for you. icon smile Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Zero Review

What I like about Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on pencils?

  • The formula that glides on like butter.
  • Nice packaging.
  • Vegan
  • Staying power is great and it’s waterproof
  • Variety of colours that ranges from funky to classy
  • The best part, it does not sting my eyes when I apply it on my waterline. My review is restricted to this colour. I am not sure if the ones with glitter will sting the eyes. I never try things with glitter on my waterline!
  • What I dislike about Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on pencils?
  • The colour could be more rich/pigmented.  This is not the blackest black available when compared to so many other liners. Comparison between swatches of Lotus Kajal and UD 24/7 glide on pencils.

Urban Decay Zero Pencil vs Lotus Herbal Kajal

Will I re-purchase? Yes, I want to try other colors. Going to try the browns and blues next time. This is not yet HG, if it was rich black it would be . icon smile Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil Zero Review

So, if you want an eyeliner that is long wearing, smudge proof, water proof and does not sting your eyes, then UD 24/7 glide on pencil is for you. If you want rich black colour, you can always apply Kajal and apply this on top like I sometimes do:). This way, you can also set your Kajal for hours together. Definitely worth trying at least once.

I have this pencil in Bourbon. The formula is great, as you noted in your review above, but the color doesn’t look phenomenal on me. I’m still looking for ways to make it work!
I picked MUFE’s aqua eyes over this at the store. The both were pretty alike to me, soft to apply but stayed on forever.
Have you tried UD’s liquid liners? The colors are so bright and pretty…but I can’t get myself to spend $18 on something I’d wear once a month!

I agree with you Devika…the colors are not that intense…even I tried swatching MUFE aqua eyes…the formula seems the same :) I am yet to try UDs liquid liners…I can pay $18 for a pencil liner but not liquid…dunno y :( and I don’t wear bright colors that often! :)

There is a huge difference between the kajal and the pencil….. :-D but anyway, it seems to be good

Appu August 19, 2010 at 7:50 pm

Yeah Jomol…the kajal seems darker and deeper in color than the pencil…but the pencil is good in its own way :)

Hey HD, even I hope this hits the Indian shores pretty soon!! UD usually releases palettes, which contain mini samples of products, and they are usually Limited Edition. That way we get to try the product itself without spending a fortune :) Sometimes, they also have two of these pencils for just a little more than the cost of one…those are the kind of sales that I have seen with UD :)
