5 Days of Fun with Lotus Herbals- Day 1: Nail Paints

Lotus Herbals has launched its Colour Dew Nail Enamel Range almost two months back. Here are its features, swatches and my review. πŸ™‚ Enjoy!

What are Lotus Herbals Colour Dew Nail Enamels?

They are toluene, acetone and DBP free nail paints.

Toluene: disturbs woman’s ability to reproduce and it is linked to birth defects

DBP: di-butyl phthalate

  • may cause spontaneous abortion in women exposed to it.
  • narcotic in high concentrations.
  • attacks the nervous system, eyes, blood, liver, kidneys and skin.

Acetone

  • is a skin irritant & makes cuticles dry & dull
  • makes nails brittle.

Price: Rs 95/ for 8ml – (Indian Rupees)

Why should you buy Lotus Herbals Nail paints?

  • They are free of harmful chemicals that may harm your nails. This gives me such a relief that now I can paint my nails without any scare of harmful chemicals. And I wear nail paints A LOT.
  • The brush is pretty flat so it makes the application pretty easy.
  • I don’t know if this is a valid point or not but the bottles are generously filled with the paint. They are filled till the top.
  • They don’t streak. You check the swatches and you wouldn’t find any streaking.
  • They don’t chip. I wanted to try these paints completely before writing the review so I applied the paint without any base or top coat. I applied two coats of paint at least 4-5 days back and have washed utensils, cooked food and some other work but these paints didn’t fail me. Today morning, I saw that the paint on my hands is starting to fade from the corners but the paint on my feet is intact. Highly impressed!
  • Pricing is quite comparable to the other brands available in this section.
  • The bottles are pretty cute and sleek.

Why should you NOT buy Lotus Herbals Nail paints?

Limited shade selection: I would want to see more of pinks, blues, reds, blacks and many more colours.

    1. I know. πŸ™‚ I am totally coverting. It’s such a relief to have these nail paints. In fact, after this I am going to keep all these things in mind while buying nail paints next time. See how much blogging is helping you in your exams as well. πŸ™‚

Aww!! you are studying so much. How are you exams? πŸ™‚

  2. physics sucked
surprisingly , Chem went very good .. seems like ingredient list is helping moi πŸ˜›

  3. haha !!
You know after struggling , pondering and crying over physics and chem .. I have realised I cant continue with it anymore
Its just out of my league . I will always be a average at science . You wont believe , I drag myself to study so that I can pass . I know I will score good but science just dont ring any bells in my ears.
I am planning to change the field .. my parents are disheartened by my decision .. oh ! they want me to be some engineer slogging another precious 5 years of my life in somethin I am not intrested in !!

  4. I loved the Cozy Mulberry, Orange… and Luscious Berry.

The bottle looks sleek and different. Such a relief from the typical Lakme bottles..

Chemical free sounds like music to my ears πŸ™‚

  5. Hi everybody….. I agree with you that the shades are minimal… And I am a pharmacist and I would like to add that scientists are actually preparing medicinal nail lacquers which will release drugs into your body through the nail bed. But no need to get all hyper as this process requires special penetration enhancers…. Our routine nail enamels are not that disastrous… Although a chemical free formula will definitely reduce the scare… If these people add more shades to their palette they can please everybody!

    1. Oh my!! I have so many hidden talents here at my blog. πŸ™‚ It’s a pleasure to have such information coming. I hope they read this and plan to add more colours. I am really impressed with their quality. WIll reply to you mail by tonight. πŸ™‚

    1. Hi Sunaina,

Welcome to my blog. These were so easy to use that I had to make no extra effort in correcting mistakes or anything like that. I guess a lot depends on the nailpaints you use as well.

I generally apply nail paints in three strokes. Sise of the nail, center and another side. If there are streaks I take some nail paint and lightly move my brush on top. Keep your hand light while applying paints, I guess that would help you a lot.:)

      1. Thank you for your comment, the belt came with the dress, it’s attached to it!:)

I have only used nailpolish from H&M, some cheap brands and I have one OPI polish.
I can’t really tell the difference between the brushes, except for the cheap brands. Those are not so good so I don’t use that anymore but I keep making a mess with the H&M and OPI polishes, I think I should practice more. I’ll definitely look for the Lotus Herbals polishes but I don’t know if they sell it here in Holland. 95 rupees is about 1,50 in euros, that is very cheap for nailpolish so if they have it here I think it will be more expensive than that!

        1. Never used any brand that you have mentioned. Have heard a lot about OPI lippies but they are not available in India. I think you just need a bit of practice and you woould be fine. πŸ™‚

  6. Guys it’s not only these colours in their nail polishes, try there CRIMSON RED & RICH AUBURN from Color Marvel range of nail paint. EXCELLENT
