Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara Review

Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara Review

This was one of the first mascaras from Benefit that I have ever tried. I was not willing to pay full price for the mascara, so I got a travel size from Sephora. πŸ™‚

What does Benefit claim:

Why we love it: Sexy, sultry, pure unadulterated black mascara for full, voluminous lashes. It’s as BAD as you want to be!
What else you need to know:Famously big, bodacious brush coats lashes with our super black formula.

Price: The full size tube costs $19 for 8.5 g, but I got the travel size for $9 at Sephora.
Colours available: Brightening blue, deep brown, plum and also a waterproof version of the same black mascara.

My thoughts on Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara:

I love benefit for the fact that their packaging rocks πŸ™‚ this mascara has a very funky packaging. The brush looks fat and promises full, fanned out sexy lashes. Sadly, the fact that there is more to a product than just packaging is something that has been forgotten as far as this mascara is concerned.

This is how the brush looks.

Big fat brush that makes us feel that our lashes might create a breeze every time we bat them πŸ™‚ .

Sadly, no.

The mascara is not very pigmented. The mascara as such with just one coat, does not clump or smudge, and goes on smoothly. But, for the color to look vivid and some volume, I need to apply 2-3 coats. This makes my lashes look black, but really clumps while applying multiple coats. It takes a while to dry too πŸ™
IMHO, it does not do a great job in volumizing lashes.

The one thing that I liked is the ability to curl. It curls lashes pretty well, makes it look natural, if applied with a light hand. Make sure not to go overboard, else you end up getting yourself a ticket to little smudgy town since the drying time is more.

Removing this is easy. I got the non-waterproof version and since this is not very pigmented, I do not find it difficult to remove. I am not sure how the waterproof version works out.

There are more colors such as brown, blue and purple. I don’t think I will be trying their colored mascaras either, as I highly doubt the pigmentation.

What I like about Benefit Bad Gal Lash mascara:

  • Curls lashes pretty well
  • Easy to remove
  • Packaging

What I dislike about Benefit Bad Gal Lash Mascara:

  • Price – $19 seems too steep for a mascara that doesn’t even perform that well. I am glad I got the sample size and did not waste money on a full size tube!
  • Poor pigmentation
  • Smudges and feels heavy when 2-3 coats applied
  • Drying time is too much
  • A lot of work needs to be done to get decent volume.

Will I re-purchase this?

No. Definitely Not this one.

This mascara is not worth the money, not even the money spent for the sample size! The only good thing I see is the nice curl it gives to my lashes. If that’s what you want, then you can give this a shot. Other than that, I don’t see anything great about this mascara. There are a zillion other mascaras that can do a better job than this one! Save yourself some moolah for something else from benefit πŸ™‚ Bad gal lash is not worth it!
Have you tried mascaras from benefit? Is there one that performs better than Bad Gal Lash? Share your thoughts.
