Bobbi Brown Bright Raspberry Art Stick Review

Hi Everyone!

Today I am going to talk about one of the cutest products in my stash, the Bobbi Brown Art Colour Stick in Bright Raspberry. These are so reminiscent of the crayons we used as children, which makes them all the more tempting to pick up. I picked the Bobbi Brown Art Stick in the shades Sunset Orange and Bright Raspberry. Sunset Orange has already been reviewed here and it gets much love from me. Read on to see how I liked this one.

Ingredients: I could not find a list. 🙁

My Experience With Bobbi Brown Bright Raspberry Art Stick :

Packaging: These are in the usual chubby pencil format, really thick wooden pencils that need to be sharpened. They come with a sharpener so thanks for that Bobbi Brown. FYI, this does not fit into my usual dual sharpener so you have to carry the sharpener around if you are traveling. The cap on this is black in color and secures tightly. The bottom is coloured to indicate the shade. The pencil itself is a glossy black and feels quite heavy when I hold it.

Texture: Chubby pencils these days are found in every brand. I find that on an average, brands focus either on being moisturizing with lesser pigment and lasting power or being highly pigmented and long-lasting while drying. This one is no different. It belongs to the latter category. That being said, it is not overly drying, but does not moisturise or hydrate. Lips that are too dry may need a lip balm, but in my opinion, with proper exfoliation and care you can use these by themselves. It applies beautifully, very smooth and even. I use it as both lip liner and lipstick, and application takes no time at all.

Shade and Pigmentation: I got this in the shade ‘Bright Raspberry’ described as a raspberry red. On me it looks like a berry toned pink. It has cool tones and makes my teeth look whiter.

It doesn’t look red at all. It is highly pigmented and covers everything with one swipe. It dries to a matte finish. The lasting power on these is pretty good; it lasts 5+ hours on me. It fades a little with eating and drinking but you can always touch up. It doesn’t transfer onto everything I use and I can happily sip a drink without a telltale ring of pink. For this reason, I always love to use this while going out to dinner. I can happily look berry pretty throughout.

The range consists of only 8 colors (3 LE shades have also been released) but all of them are pretty bright. I did swatch a couple of non-bright colors but they are pretty strong to be categorized as neutrals. They are more of everyday shades rather than n*de. For fairer skin, they are actually quite bright. So if you are averse to brights, swatch the shades before you buy. For me this is great, I love brights and am in love with the crazy pigmentation of these. This is a go-to no brainer colour for me. Such easy application and long-lasting pigment, I really couldn’t ask for more.

In comparison, the NARS lip pencils come in a huge spectrum of shades and finishes. But when you calculate the costs, NARS costs $25 USD for 0.07oz ($357.14 USD per ounce) and these are $26 USD for 0.2 oz ($130 USD per ounce). Obviously, these are more value for money and you significantly get more product. By the way, this is a great tip to keep in handy when you want to compare the values of 2 or more products. Just calculate the per ounce or per gram value and you can compare value easily. 🙂 I own and love the NARS satin Lip Pencil in Rikugien, but if I am itching for a matte finish, I will reach for the Bobbi Brown.
