My Experience with City Color M1 Melon Be Matte Lipstick:
This lipstick comes in a matte black rectangular packaging. It has a transparent lid. I really like the packaging because it is neat and classy. Only the name of the product is printed and rest details are on the little sticker. The lipstick is a slanted one and is round in shape. It makes for easy application of the lipstick.
This shade “M1” is called melon and it’s a lovely light pink shade, but it is not exactly pink, it has some brown hints to it too. The name is slightly misleading here, because Melon usually means some warm coral pink shade and this is a browny pink shade instead. The pigmentation is okay, you need 3 coats to get an opaque finish.
They say it is a matte shade but I feel it has a satin finish instead. It doesn’t settle into a matte finish even after a while. This one has some shimmer to it too. The shimmer isn’t very visible though until you look very closely.
The texture of the lipstick is creamy when you swatch on the hand, but it isn’t that creamy on the lips. It will tug on dry lips. The formula is slightly drying. I wore this lipstick when my lips weren’t moisturized, hence my lips got very dry and it felt uncomfortable to keep this on as is. I had to use a lip balm over it.
The staying power of this lipstick is 2-3 hours. The staying power is less and this one goes slightly patchy on dry lips. One has to make sure that lips are very well scrubbed and moisturized before using this lipstick.

- Lips have to be prepped really nicely before application.

- Goes on slightly patchy.
- Has a bit of shimmer.
- Misleading shade name.
