Today, I will be reviewing City Color Be Matte Lipstick in the shade “Francesca”. Of late, I have been into deep reds and browns and after seeing the color range offered by this brand, I decided to buy a few shades. To know more about this lipstick, keep on reading.

My Experience With City Color Francesca Be Matte Lipstick:

The City Color Be Matte Lipstick comes in a cuboid packaging with a transparent cap. The body of the lipstick is quite chic; it is matte black and has the brand name along with the shade name. Since it has a transparent cap, it is quite easy to spot the shade from the stash. Although the transparent cap is chic, the color from the lipstick transfers to the inside and makes the lipstick case messy. The cap closes down with a click and does not open easily making it travel-friendly.

“Francesca” is an oxblood red color with brown undertones. I feel it is the kind of shade that will suit all skin tones. The formulation is not completely matte, it is creamy matte, which I like. Nevertheless, it is more on the matte side.

I find it slightly difficult to apply it on my thin lips. It takes more than one swipe to get the lip lines sharp. Before applying this lipstick, I prefer to exfoliate and moisturise my lips as it enhances the dry cracks on my lips. Unlike other shades from the same range, this one provides a slightly patchy finish, but a couple of swipes provides an opaque coverage.

The lipstick stays on my lips for around four to five hours. Also, it does not transfer much. Only when I eat something oily does the lipstick fade a bit from the center. The lipstick fades away slowly after five hours and leaves a darker stain along my lip lines. Because the shade looks patchy on the lips, I tend to reapply the lipstick when I am out for a longer time. This lipstick can be removed easily using a good makeup remover. It does not leave any stain on the lips. Overall, I love the shade and the formulation of this lipstick.

Yes to both. For me, this is the perfect matte lipstick. If you are looking for the perfect red to suit your skin tone, I would recommend that you check out this shade range. The only issue is, the whole shade range may not be available everywhere.
