Clinique Clarifying Lotion Reformulated

If it feels like the world is throwing more at your skin today, it is – more pollution, harsher climates, the rise of allergies and the always-present natural aging process. These factors can cause skin damage, sensitivity and irritation, impacting skin’s ability to naturally renew itself. As a result, skin can become more sluggish and uneven.

CLinique Clarifyling Lotion

To help skin regularly and effectively shed dead-skin cells and reveal healthier, cleaner skin, Clinique is introducing new dermatologist reformulated Clarifying Lotion – with special buffering agents to make exfoliation more comfortable in today’s environment. Each gentle sweep clears away pollution, grime and dulling flakes.

Regardless of skin-type or age, healthy skin can be exfoliated twice a day, every day – the key is providing the right strength of exfoliation for each individual’s needs. According to Clinique’s Guiding dermatologist, Dr. David Orentreich, “Daily exfoliation improves the appearance and surface function of the skin. The right exfoliation will enhance function and prep skin to receive hydration, resulting in a clearer, smoother, and more translucent and even-toned complexion. The new Clarifying Lotion is a gentle daily exfoliator that performs with the same efficacy as my father’s original Clarifying Lotion formula – it has just been modernized for today’s world.”

CLinique Clarifyling Lotion

Dermatologist reformulated Clarifying Lotion is available in four formulas of varying strengths appropriate for very dry to dry, dry combination, combination oily and oily skins. The new formula has been updated with buffering agents including Hyaluronic Acid, Glycerin and Trehalose to make exfoliation more comfortable and help maintain skin’s moisture equilibrium. Graduated levels of Salicylic Acid, a longtime dermatologist staple, are also present to aid in exfoliation by removing dead-skin cells, promoting optimal cell turnover. In fact, each Clarifying Lotion has been specially formulated with its own level of Salicylic Acid to ensure optimal, custom-fit exfoliation for each skin-type. After each use, pores seem smaller, fine lines less evident and skin-tone more even and vibrant looking.

The New and Improved Difference Maker:

Clinique was founded on the principle that a customized daily cleansing, exfoliating and moisturizing routine is the best way to achieve great skin. Over the years, Clinique has tailored its iconic 3-Step SkinCare System for the evolving needs of its customers. Thus, Clarifying Lotion, the “difference maker” in the 3-Step Skin-Care System, has been updated to provide gentle yet still effective exfoliation that reveals smoother, healthier skin. While the fundamentals of skin biology have not changed since the introduction of 3-Step in 1968, the environment has – and so have skin’s needs.

The Results:

Regular twice a day usage will:

• Gently remove dry, dead skin cells to reveal a more vibrant and healthy complexion.

• Effectively help skin release the bonds that link dead skin cells to the surface of the skin.

• Clear away the last traces of soap and/or cleanser and prepare skin for moisturizer without disrupting the balance of the skin.

• Remove dirt, oil and residue to impart a refreshing feel.

• Help unclog pores and minimize their appearance.

• Enhance the benefits of moisturizers and other skin treatments.

• Strengthen skin, making it more resistant to environmental impurities and irritants.

I would so love to use this, but salicylic acid irritates my oily-sensitive skin. Otherwise, I use Step 1 and Step 3, and use Neutrogena Alcohol-free toner as Step 2.

Hi Rati, thanks for the review. I swear by this clarifying lotion (i am a type 2) and it really does take off all soap particles after washing the face, inclusive of any dirt particle which the soap has not cleaned. I follow Step 2 and 3 (with dramatic moisturizer) and it works magic on my skin!

Rati July 13, 2011 at 12:49 am

I mostly keep it for my nose and it has really worked well in keeping my black heads at bay. 🙂

divya July 12, 2011 at 7:36 pm

Is this reformulated version better? If they added salicylic acid, that would make it drier na? I love type 2 for summers and oily skin days…is like superman for the skin

This brought me up old memories……

I was new to USA and just begun to know different brands of cosmetics (limited to regular malls….) and those in drugstores and since mine was not sensitive skin, most drugstore products suited me just fine…..

I had a friend back then and she was doing this 3 step cleaning when we all had got-together at her house…..and she was saying that her skin was extremely sensitive and said “I dont use any other product than Clinique”…….and these products were the best and all……

So till that I was fine although I felt she was doing little show-off, but even then I thought ok….this might be a brand to keep in mind, in case I want to try higher brand.

Then she said “My husband likes to keep me “happy” and agrees to whatever Clinique products I buy”…….

O…..O….Heeeee….That became the joke of the day.

Rati July 13, 2011 at 12:38 am

You hve a cute friend. 😆
