I have purchased a ton of new shades from Colorbar’s Velvet Matte lipstick range (I have already a lot of shades reviewed on IMBB, “Dance Wid Me” is the most recent one). In this post, I am reviewing a cool-toned pink lipstick which is not too matte or cakey but still will be loved by cool-toned pink lipstick lovers – I am talking about the shade “Nauty Gurl.”

My Experience with Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Nauty Gurl:
I don’t know if I am fond of the way they have spelt the lipsticks, but nevertheless, it is a witty way to go about naming the shade of lipstick. This one is called “Nauty Gurl” and it is a cool-toned pink with some purple tones to it.
On looking closely, I noticed that this lipstick has a very light pearly tone to it as well. I think this lipstick is neither too matte or cakey, but once you layer it up, it builds up like a matte lipstick. One blotted, it becomes quite matte. I find it very cool toned for me. I don’t like the magenta “rani pink” tone plus plus the slight pearl finish. Anyway, this lipstick is not my favourite pink to go to.
If you are cool skin toned or fair, this lipstick color will work for you. Don’t expect the lipstick to be too smooth or creamy, it warms and smoothens during application. It will last you very long with minimal transfer, but nevertheless, it does stain a bit like the older velvet matte lipsticks. Do swatch it at the counter and see if this is your pink. For me, it will remain unused or would be gifted away.

- Cool-toned bright pink.
- Comes matte in two coats.
- Will work great for cool-toned skin.
- Many shades at just 325 INR in this “Velvet Matte” range.
Cons of Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Nauty Gurl:
- Might feel draggy on dry lips.
- Wish it were smoother.
- Wish it did not have that slight pearl finish to it.
- It could have been more pigmented and matte.
- Stains a bit.
Would I Recommend Colorbar Velvet Matte Lipstick Nauty Gurl?
Not really, this is not my favourite pink, but if you love pinks that are not too “in-your-face,” have a swatch and see, don’t expect wonders from the texture.
