Hi Everyone, 🙂
Continuing with the ‘Palette Week’, today’s makeup looks is created with Dior 5 Couleurs High Fidelity Colors & Effect Eyeshadow Palette 457 Fascinate. I have already reviewed 2 of the 3 eyeshadow palettes from my collection – Electrify and Expose.
Price USD 62 / INR 3,900
I think I’d start with the price first since it looks quite steep. It’s a 7gm palette for 5 eyeshadow colors. Each eyeshadow approx costs INR 780. Since MAC is quite a standard for everything makeup, I compared the price to the single eyeshadow from MAC. Each eyeshadow is 1.5 gm and costs INR 990 for a refill and INR 1350 for a pan. So if you were to buy 5 refills of MAC Eyeshadows, it would cost you for INR 4,950 7.5gm product. But the benefit of buying a MAC eyeshadow is that you can pick and choose your colors and basically pay in ‘EMI’. Also, if you are buying refills from MAC, you would also have to buy a separate empty palette that could cost you another 1000 bucks roughly. Here you would get a pre-made palette. It actually comes out to be much cheaper. I am not trying to convince you for anything. I did a math for my own knowledge, I thought I’d share it with you. I adore MAC for everything makeup but sometimes it’s good to take a plunge and experience something new. 🙂 Plus I bought these palettes from my own money so nothing is sponsored here. 🙂 It’s something I wanted to share with you guys. 🙂
Now coming to the 5 colors this palette includes.
A satin sea foam green with white-gold micro shimmers. It makes for both a great inner corner color or an all over lid shade. It can also be used in transition with the darker green or taupe eyeshadow in the palette. Also you can use it as a lower lash line color to add a bit of contrast to your eye makeup look. It’s pretty opaque and pigmented for the color it is. It’s easy to apply and easy to blend.
A baby pink with white gold micro shimmers. It makes for a lovely inner corner color and brow bone color. I like that is softly pigmented and not the chalky-white kind of a highlighter. It’s subtle, smooth in texture and can also be layered on top of another eyeshadow.
A gorgeous gold metallic taupe eyeshadow It’s the kind of color that you wear every single day. Adds just the right amount of light without being too dark. Makes for a lovely transition color, all over lid color and excellent for doing smokey eyes.
A blackened forest green. It’s more black than green but you cannot ignore the green in the color. It’s quite powdery and has a bit of fall out but nothing major. It’s very pigmented, easy to apply and easy to blend as well. The color is quite buildable and you can make it looks really dark intense greenish-black as well.
A beautiful warm shimmery gold eyeshadow. Can be used for inner corner or just as pop of light on the centre of the lid. I love how sparkly it is. It is quite opaque, buildable and can be layered on top of other eyeshadows.
Overall, among the 3 palettes, this one is my favourite. I am a sucker for smokey eyes and this one is right up my alley. All the 5 colors work in synch with each other. The different textures, pigmentation and how beautifully they blend..it’s just gorgeous. I wore it straight up 9 hours and no fading or creasing. I always wear an eyeshadow primer underneath.
For this makeup look, I have used the taupe eyeshadow all over the lid and then applied dark green on top. I blended the taupe shade above the crease so that it works as transition color as well. The pale green color is on the inner third of the eye and gold is on the very inner corner. I used the pale pink as a brow highlighter.Finished off with a gel eyeliner , green eyeliner for waterline and mascara. I rarely ever do dark eyes with dark lips but then why not? 🙂 Hope you like the looks and give it a go! 🙂
