I was swatching some nail paints from Dior when the SA recommended that I try this shade called “Metal Montaigne 803.” I did try and it was instant love! and I said, I’ll buy it! But then she checked and said it was currently not in stock. I had to hunt for dupes of this particular shade, but no luck, believe me! That made me want the shade even more 😛 So, I planned to visit another mall which also had a Sephora outlet, and finally brought this baby home after I enquired at the Dior counter and got an affirmative answer 😛 Well, so here’s the review.

My Experience with Dior Metal Montaigne 803 Vernis Gel Shine and Long Wear Nail Lacquer:
Dior being a high-end brand was on my bucket list of must-have brands. So, I purchased a lip sugar scrub along with this nail lacquer after reading Rati’s review here. I am obsessing over both, literally! The nail paint comes in a very luxurious, rectangular glass bottle, which feels nice and heavy. The silver cap adds a touch of luxe to it. You have to twist and remove the silver outer cap to reveal a black cap which makes it easy to hold and apply.
Talking about the brush, by far THE best nail lacquer brush I have come across! Perfect is the word; it is wide enough to flare out comfortably on my nails (I have nails that have comparatively larger area) and the bristles are super fine. I actually make a lot of mess while doing my nails, but with this one, it is lesser.
“Metal Montaigne” is a very beautiful metallic blackish-grey. It has super fine silver shimmers in it which you cannot distinguish it from the base. It goes hand in hand with the base color. I love that it does not have a blue undertone to it. The color is just worth all the money. As the description says, it truly is gel-like and has a mirror like gloss to it. Trust me, the glossiness does not fade even after 5 days of wear. The formula is a big winner for me and I couldn’t have been happier. It does not chip much even after 4 days of wear, after that it starts to chip a little, but the gloss pretty much stays. I can go for 10 days with this nail paint on my nails easily.
Despite the fact that it is too pricey for a vernis, it is just worth every penny if at the end of the day you’re happy.
Closest dupe: Maybelline Bright sparks in Spark of Steel (This has more blue in it though).
