My Take on Elemis Vitamin-Rich Body Lotion:
This lotion is absolutely delightful! For my dry skin, it is luxuriously hydrating. At the very start, I will say that this lotion packs in absolutely everything that I desire in my ideal body lotion. But there is one drawback, which doesn’t allow it to become my ideal body lotion. Look at the ingredient list: they have possibly packed in every kind of paraben that exists! Five kinds of parabens! Such a letdown. Anyway, now let me get to what I love about this lotion.
I have very dry skin, as I have mentioned before. This lotion, although lightweight in feel, is extremely moisturising and hydrating. It is a rich moisturiser that doesn’t in the least feel greasy. It is absorbed by the skin within seconds of application without leaving any greasy or sticky residue on the skin. Its ideal consistency allows it to be applied evenly all over the skin.
The fragrance is mild, warm and pleasant. I would probably describe the fragrance as a melange of wheat germ, carrot, vanilla and the like. When it comes to my body lotions and creams, I definitely prefer such warm fragrances rather than the more fruity or the citrusy kinds.
I use this lotion right after my shower and it leaves my skin feeling instantly soft, smooth and supple. The effect lasts the entire day. In every way (apart from the controversial ingredients), I love this lotion and what it does for my dry skin.
Pros of Elemis Vitamin-Rich Body Lotion:
- Extremely moisturising, moisturises very dry skin instantly without feeling heavy or sticky on the skin.
- Ideal consistency: it is lightweight in feel but hydrating in effect, which makes it easy to apply evenly all over the skin. Leaves the skin feeling incredibly soft and supple.
- Can be used by people with all skin types. It is gentle and effective.
- Mild, pleasant fragrance.
Cons of Elemis Vitamin-Rich Body Lotion:
- The highly controversial ingredients list! It contains five types of parabens, which makes me think twice before picking this up too often to use all over my body. When it comes to a lotion that contains parabens, the chance of absorption of the chemicals by the body is a lot higher than it is with a product like face wash (which gets washed off within minutes).
My Verdict on Elemis Vitamin-Rich Body Lotion:
This is a great lotion, if you are willing to overlook the troublesome ingredients. It is only because of the ingredients that I am hesitant to use it very often. Apart from that, I absolutely love this lotion!
4/5 (had it not been for the parabens, this would have been 5/5 for sure!)
